Check your conversion rates I think that is like $900 US I think I could find better things to do with that kind of money besides the ZZR has better lights than most bikes out and alot of cars aswell.

yeah I saw... and yes I agree the bike has AWSOME lights... but I figured it was something I could transfer to another bike when I trade it in... and probably to the next bike after that

on a side note... you'd think by now they'd offer HID as an option... esp. on new tourers/sport tourers... I know it adds weight but on an ST something that weighs < a pound is not THAT big a concern. and yeah I think it'd be expensive but it's gonna be the standard 10 years from now... so why not the option now?

You're going to want to get a kit made for motorcycles because the kit you're looking at and other car oriented HID kits have large ballasts that will be hard to mount on a bike. Motorcycle HID kits have tiny ballasts that are usually also enclosed in a water tight rubber housing. I have HID's on my car and I would not want to try to mount those ballasts on my bike, they're all metal and a little heavy/bulky. Just my .02 cents. But I absolutely LOVE the HID's on my car and I want to get a kit for my bike too.

do you have any idea of good brands... or know of any that offer motorcycle specific kits? all the kits I've seen don't specify as to if they're for cars or bikes... so I assume bikes...

H4 is a common bulb that a lot of cars use as well.....if the kit doesn't specify it's for a bike..it's most likely for a car (will still theoretically work on a bike..it's all 12v DC but just w/ larger maybe not so weatherproof ballasts). There aren't a whole lot out there..I just did some searching and I found a kit that can be for either but the ballasts are small and enclosed in all plastic w/ rubber gromments for the wires going in/out of the ballasts and wire loom on all other wiring. It looks like a very well made kit.

Xetronic is the brand

I'd do some searching for sure. I know that when I was getting them for my car, lot's of places/people will tell you that external ignitors are a bad idea. I'm not sure if that's what those little boxes are, but I made sure to buy a car kit that had internal ignitors.

HID's are great, and will be standard on most cars by 2010. Bulb life is by far longer than any halogen, and the light is better.

External vs Internal Ignitors don't make a difference.....I have a set on my car and the ignitors are built in but I've installed numerous other sets on other people's cars both w/ external and internal ignitors and they all have worked fine.

I think it partially depends on the brand of the kit too. I'm not saying that external ignitors are bad, but i've heard enough stories from issues others have had from running kits that use external.

Either way, if the company that makes them, backs them up with a warranty....you should be good to go.

Can the Ballast be placed on the fairing? I have an 06 ZZR 600, the sub frame in the best place I would think, but the wiring won't allow that to happen. Where would you guy mount the Ballast anyway
