Default GIVI V46 on '07 ZZR600

I've added a GIVI V46 top case to my ZZR600. GIVI has discontinued manufactureing a mount for our bikes.

Purchased the top case and a mounting plate (p/n E250) from http://www.ridenowonline.com/

Purchased a sport rake from http://www.cycleventure.com/products/products.htm

Had to cut the grap handle off the top off the rack. Added another piece of tubing to the front, added two pieces of tubing to the legs which bolt on under the bikes grap handles. The bikes grap handles where sanded down with a small dremal belt sander to allow clearance for the tubing.

Next project will be adapting side case brackets from another bike to work on the ZZR600.

I must say you did a very nice job. It's really to bad that Givi can't produce the right parts to fit our bikes. You should email Givi and send them the pictures you posted here. Also request that they produce a side case mounting kit. There's probably a big market out there for this sort of thing but Givi doesn't realize it. I have emailed Givi on serveral occassions requesting that they produce mounting systems for our bikes and get canned emailed. Bravo again on the install. Very clean. You could probably get some flat black spray paint and mask off the area that you had to remove on the bottom of the grab handle and repaint it to give it a clean finished look. Now all you need is some SW-MOTECK mirror extenders and a MRA Vario Touring Screen and you will a great little sport touring bike

The 2005-2008 ZZR600 has one gas tank! It holds at total of 4.8 gallons of which 3.7 is available until you have to switch to reserve to use the remaining 1.1 gallons of gas.

Thanks for the complements. I emailed GIVI 3 weeks ago after ordering the proper top case mount and finding out it had been discountinued. GIVI replied that the mount for our bikes hasn't sold very well, which is why they discountinued producing it, and that they would not make side case mounts for our bikes because there wasn't enough interest from ZZR600 owners.

Default Similiar options for racks

Not to thread jack but just FYI for those that don't know or haven't come across sport racks but I've seen two other racks that are made for our bikes. Not as good of a set up as the Topcase by Givi but better than nothing. I'm sure there is other options out there but these are the two I've come accross.

Revsperformance makes a sport rack for around $118 (last known price) and a bag that mounts directly to it (bag about $95) http://www.revsperformance.com/renntec/sports_racks.htm

Pictured below is the revperformance rack on a 9r but almost exact to our ZZR's.

ZX9RESRackREN7224B.jpg

Next is the Ventura Bike Pack Systems. http://www.sporttouringusa.com/www/V_bikepack.htm

They come with options for a sport rack (smaller) and a Pack Rack (Bigger rack for larger bag) and bag that is designed to attach to Pack Rack. Price of total kit, approximately $350 which includes mounting brackets, Sport rack, Pack Rack and bag. Just the Pack Rack and hardware alone is about $190 bucks.

Pictures on the bike with the bag attached. They say to ride with the bag forward facing if riding alone so that the weight can be over the seat. The bag can be reversed (rear facing) if riding 2 up.

The Pack Rack

The Sport Rack. It's the exact same one that Trip posted but from another site. The brackets and rack from the above site is approx. $180. Only diff is Trip was smart enough to figure out how to put the grab handles back on. :-)

ZZR, what was your AFSC?

I'm currently the Dock Chief at the 147th FW in Houston. Before my 2A373, was a 7 lvl in the Hyd Shop, and before that a 5 lvl in the Elect/Enviro Shop. Being a full timer in the guard, I had to jump around some in order to make rank.

With that being said, it may be this summer before I'll have time to fabricate (modify) some side case brackets to fit my bike because AEF 5/6 has already started and I have a small part to play across the pond for the last part of it. Time to go on another Govt sponsored vacation again.

Last time we returned from AEF 5/6 was during Sep '05. Remember, I'm in the Gulf Coast area, can anyone say lots of hours worrying about family while Katrina and Rita was hammering all around our families?

I was a 2T271 (60571 old school) Air Transportation Specialist. I was active duty from Jul84 to Jul94. Stationed at McGuire AFB NJ 438th APS, Incirlik AB Turkey 628th MASS, Dover AFB Dover Delaware 436th APS. After busting but during Desert Storm I got caught in a RIF and got out after 10 years of active duty. I was in the reserves at Dover AFB 512 MAW for 3 years. I had a great time in the Air Force although I would have liked to retire with 20 years under my belt. I look back and consider it a life learning experience. Hey buddy are you up for Deals Gap May 14-21, 2007 ?
