i went for a long ride this weekend with the new mirrors. as for visibility they work really nice. my first ride with them was 2up. my girlfriend went with me. reach was great. only problem i had was the left mirror kept wanting to rotate down until i could find a good position for it. they are a bit shakey at high speeds though.

I like how they look though

I read this post yesterday, then went to borders, started looking at books...just happened to flip to a page with a diagram...

think of looking down on a motorcycle and drawing a clock.

77% of wrecks happen from 1030 to 130

30% happen from the left and right

and less than 3 % happen from the rear...

just a mute point but i would never have put those figures on it.

Yea but that's most, if not all, due to driver or rider negligence... not neglecting signals, rather failing to assume that a car/bike will blow the red light, start early on the green, or go too wide into a corner and BOOM... I guess what I'm trying to say is you could be covered in glowing and flashing neon signs but if someone is going through that red or screws up in the corner, whether they see you or not doesn't matter

This is just a personal opinion from experience because I feel like I can easily control everything happening in front of me as long as I stay aware of the surroundings... but the rear is a different story... if I'm sitting at a light I always keep it in 1st and watch the mirrors until there's a car behind me, but when I'm going faster on the highway I can't/don't check the mirrors every second and there's always a chance there's some drunk idiot that will slam in the back of your bike...
