Talking !st post, wanna buy a zzr600 = OTD $ ?

Hello everyone. I just joined the forum but have been watching in for a few weeks. My ? is what did you and what can i expect to pay for ( OTD) Out The Door cost. Im looking to get a 06 or 07 ZZR600. This will be my fist street bike and yes i have read all the info about 250 or 500's for 1'st bike stuff. I have ridden dirt bikes for a long time, just not latley. I also have ridden all types of ATV's even snowmobiles. I have chosen the zzr600 for price, function, power and insurence is much lower than a SS. My purchase will be in the next few weeks incase your wondering. I was tempted to get a 650R but i want somthign a little bigger and what i think will be a better 2up bike.

My info:

AGE: 30
6.0 ft, 160 lbs
Married ( wife will ride with me)
3 1/2 year old son and another that is 5 months old.

Sorry for long question.

Yay for my FIRST Post. hope to enjoy this forum as i have already.

Thanks in advance for the help.

The MSRP for a 2006 ZZR600 is $7299.00. I paid $6792.45, plus $407.55 6% Indiana state sales tax. Total OTD price for my 2006 ZZR600 was $7200.00 even. If I would have paid full price, $7299.00 plus sales tax at 6% the bike would have cost me $7736.94. I saved $536.94!! Also find a dealership that doesn't have freight charges and set-up fees added in the MSRP price of the bike. Dealerships get reimbursed by Kawasaki for set-up fees. And then try and make more profit by passing on it own to the customer.

There is no immediate way to find out their profit margin on these items but it should be between 5% - 15%. Anymore than 15% profit to the dealer on the sale he is ripping you off. You might as well have "SUCKER" written in big red letters on your forehead. Read this,
http://motorcycles.about.com/cs/buya...torcycle_2.htm

Also spend the $12.99 at http://www.cyclebuy.com/kaw_mc.htm#2...Street%20Bikes and get a dealer invoice report. That way you know how much the dealership paid for the bike. Offer the dealership cash and stick to your guns. Also make the dealership awhere that you have a dealer invoice report and you know what the bike is worth. Dealerships are in the business to make money and they will take you for every penny if given the opportunity. Kawasaki has a 5% hold back that is paid to the dealerships from August to October for the units they sell. This is pure profit to the dealer from Kawasaki. Bottom line. DUE YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE BUYING A BIKE.

How much did the Stealership rip you on that 48 month extended warranty?

I only paid $355 for my 48 month extended warranty on ebay. The dealership sells them for $600-$700 I believe.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kawas...spagenameZWDVW

There is no "five year warranty" but there is a one year manufactures warranty, with 12, 24, 36, 48 month extended coverage available at an additional cost to the owner of the bike. The facts may be important to someone who has never purchased a streetbike before.

One-Year Warranty

Your new Kawasaki motorcycle comes with a 12-month/unlimited mileage limited factory warranty. The Concours comes with a 36-month/unlimited mileage limited factory warranty. Read the next paragraph to find out how you can extend your coverage inexpensively, or ask your dealer for details about the factory warranty and available extended coverage.

Up to Four Years Additional Coverage*

Let Kawasaki protect your new machine for years to come* with the exclusive Good Times™ Protection Plan†. This plan repairs or replaces most components free of charge if found defective in material or workmanship. Everything about the plan is easy: There's no deductible. It's honored at every authorized Kawasaki ATV dealer nationwide. And it's transferable to another owner with no fee. Just ask your dealer how you can buy additional coverage of 12, 24, 36 or 48 months. Imagine, for just pennies a day, you can ride with no worry and no hassle. Just tell your dealer you want the Good Times Protection Plan.

i think it was around 600bucks? i dunno, i had no problem paying it, all maint covered, oil changes, ect ect, the bike will be payed off in 4 yrs so if i decide to sell it, that will help ..although i have yet to use the free oil changes , i cant justify waiting days to get my bike back because they are swamped. i'll do them myself, not to mention synthetic isnt free anyways.

What's the name of the dealership that covers all maintenance and oil changes. Paid off in four years??? Man I own my bike. I can't justify making a monthly payment for a bike that's going to sit covered up in the garage during the winter.

Here,s a price quote for a 2007 from Honda East of Toledo, They are 235 miles north of where I live. I purchased another bike from them in 2004 and they saved me $1400.00 off the MSRP. If your really serious about buying a bike you should also consider getting price quotes from dealerships in your area and use them as leverage to get the best deal possible. Or travel to Toledo and buy the bike, these guys have some the lowest prices on bikes in the U.S.

Hi Jay,
I do not have the 2006 ZZR600's available at this time. The 2007 models are scheduled to arrive in August.
Your price breakdown for the 2007 Kawasaki ZZR600 is as follows:
The price of the bike: $6599
Ohio state fee's: $80.50 (title, document, 30 day tag)
Your out the door price: $6679.50
**This price does not include sales tax. You will pay IN tax when you register the bike there.**

Let me know if you have any other questions, and how I can help you get things rolling

Thanks,

DAMN! Your awsome man. I checked out those articles you suggested and i will gladly get multiple quotes. I am not sure I could cruise to where you are but i really appreciate the info and all of your help.

I think i would be happy geting one for $7,000 OTD, any thing less then that would be a freakin deal and a half. I am going to get that dealer info for the 12.99 i think its well worth it. Thanks again

No problem brother I try my best. Good Luck, Don't let those dealership people take you to the cleaners. Anything is possible, it just depends on how greedy the dealership is. Like I said before "DO YOUR HOMEWORK", get your ducks in a row and stick to your guns. If you would like the email from Honda East send me your email address in a PM and I will forward it to you. Jay

Wow man those people saw you coming with that big red sign above your head. I called the Hitching post today and had the nice lady explain to me what there program is all about. For a ZZR600, she quoted me a cost of $1436.00 for the 48 month extended warranty with there so called "Gold Member" maintenance program. In my opinion it's just another way for the Stealership to nickle and dime your money out of you. My advice, you should have purchased a service manual for $59.95.
