Default Greetings from Sioux Falls, SD (road trippin')

I should have been posting from Rapid City, but my tail bag decide to try and jump off the bike in MN. problem is, I had it tied to the grab handles too. Well, that meant all it could do is a backflip and wedge bewteen my tire and fender effectively locking up the back tire while I was rolling about 90-95mph
End result being a 300 foot long skid mark and me barely gettiing it off the road. It flatspotted the tire too. Well, about a mile later, that flat spot became a hole, and at 80mph, my back tire goes flat. That's a BAD thing on a bike..
I get it off the road just as it loses it's last bit of air and tries to pass the front tire with the rear. I get off the bike and it won't sit on the kickstand becuase the flat tire makes the bike too low, so it wants to stand straight up. I have to wedge my helmet under there to get it to hold still. I go to get my cell phone only to see the words "No Service"
Luckily three harley riders stop to help out. They are just on their way back from Maine. Apparently they decided they wanted fresh lobster so they rode from SD to Maine to get it. And you thought I was crazy.
They take my cell phone number and head into the next town where there's a bike shop. They stop in there and give the shop my number and tell them the lowdown. I had set my phone straight up on the highest point of the bike and wedged it with a shoe. I got ONE bar of signal that way. The shop called, and sent someone out. By the time the bike was loaded I had been standing on the side of the road for two hours.
They take it back to the shop, give me a great deal on the tire, get it changed and I'm set to go within a half hour $260 lighter then I was this morning. They tell me there's rain coming and show me the radar on their screen. It looks bad, but looks to be far enough out that I might be able to beat it to Sioux Falls, which is where I figured I'd call it a night since I'd lost so much time and Rapid City was another 350 miles away.

Well, 5 miles out of Worthington, Minnesota (where the bike shop is located) I hit the rain. A good drizzle on the verge of a downpour. I head bck to worthington figurin I'll grab dinner and wait it out there. No dice, it was starting o move that way too. I decided to hit the road since it appeared to be clearing out by the highway. It did, for about 10 miles, then I got hit with the worst monsoon I have EVER seen.
The rain was coming in sideways, thunder and lightning right on top of me. I made camp under a bridge and STILL got soaked from the 50mph winds blowing under there.
I took pics and video before the worst of it hit. I thought for sure there was a tornado coming and I just couldn't see it from my perch
The day started so well too. I made great time out of Cedar Rapids. I did 300 miles before lunch. Now my trip will probably be cut short due to the fundage outlay and delays.

Anyway, here's pics and video:

Man that sucks, glad your okay. Umm from the looks of that rest of that rear tire, the tread was looking a little on the thin side. How many miles did you have on those tires?

Lord how do you get 5200 miles out of a set of tires? I got like 3500 out of my Dunlops. Too bad about the incident...glad you made the stop safely.
