Default Differences in power among the same year?

I went riding today with a local guy that has the same bike. We both run a D&D pipe, though his is carbon fiber and mine isn't. Other then that, I have a K&N while he's stock. Appearance mods are the only other differences unless you count my bike being lowered 1.25" in the back.

He's a little taller than me and within about 20 lbs I'd say.

Everytime we got on it, I would walk him pretty decently. didn't matter if it was from a first gear roll or a 60-160 blast. Everytime, I'd ride right by him.

The filter can't be making THAT much difference can it?

And before you claim riding experience...check this: This bike is the first sport bike for either of us. He's got 3600miles on his since he got it, I've done about 2800. So he's been on the road a lot more then I have, at least on these type of bikes.

Ideas?

my freind who weighs about 50 lbs less then i do has a stock 06 zzr with about 1300 miles on it, mine has about 3500, mine has a gutted muffler, and i seem to walk him pretty easily...i contribute it to the muffler, but it could be the way i broke it in.

Mine had 2800 miles on it when I got it, so I have no clue how it was broke in.
