Vibration
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if their are a set of grips that would cut down on the vibration to your hands. When I'm cruising down the interstate at about 80 mph for about 30 mins. my hands and feet start to get a little numb. I keep my weight back, so I don't have to much weight bearing down on my hands. I've seen handgrips that say they cut down on vibration but I was wondering if anyone has actually used any and if they helped.

I think bar end weights are supposed to help reduce vibration. I am not sure tho

Don't grip the bars so hard, learn to hold them softly at times.

I have the 06 also, I dont really notice that much vibration. My hands only go numb when I have a death grip. I suggest noticing your grip and loosening it when on regular roads at regular speeds. You can try as has been mentioned new bar ends and you are right with the grips. Just look around the net or some catalogs and both are usually listed in the same section of a site or catalog. I have always bought Pro Grip grips but never changed bar ends. Hope this helps a little.

Mine too. I took a brief ride last night to see how bad the vibration was at around 80mph, and it was barely noticeable. Try Pro Grips like stated above, maybe they will make a bit of difference.

I run HVMP barends on '05 ZZR600, they weigh 13.9 oz each and are made from solid stainless. I also injected 100% silicone caulking into my clip-ons and reinstalled the barends. The silicone caulking helps dampen vibration. The ZZR's have such a smooth motor, vibration isn't really a problem. I just like a bit more comfort, not to mention that the stainless barends hold up better in a wreck or tipover.

I appreciate the tips Ya'll. I remember reading about keeping a loose grip on the bars but I guess I haven't really noticed if I do it or not. Those stainless bar ends look real nice. I might try what you did. By the way, I have a 2006 model and I love the bike.

yea...like others have mentioned...vibration isn't a real issue, sure there is some but the real problem comes from "the death grip" (i like that term...i am gonna steal it).
I got stock grips and the only times my hands go numb are when I am griping to hard, putting all my weight into my palms, or in traffic.

What Mods have you done to your grips? Are still stock? I have Grip Puppies from California Sport Touring, they were $7.50 with free shipping. Very soft feel, actually feels better in my hand the stock grips alone are to skinny. http://www.casporttouring.com/store/...=Kawasaki_ZX6R
Also you need to get rid of those junk stock bar ends and get some that have some weight to them. I have Stainless Steel Bar Ends from HVMP that weigh 13.9 oz each. They help to absorb the handle bar buzz you get from riding. They were $52.00 with $8.50 shipping. http://www.hvmp.com/kawasaki.htm
Also I have a throttle rocker. Its great for riding long distances at a constant speed, because your right hand doesn't fall asleep or get cramped. You don't have to grip the bike with a white knuckle death grip. With the Throttle Rocker your using the palm of your hand to put pressure on the throttle. Try it. It's worth every bit of the $10.00 it cost. http://www.throttlerocker.com/index.html
I have listed three mods that you can do to your handle bars for less than a $100.00, try it and tell me your not more comfortable riding your bike.

Thanx for the advice zzrrocket. I haven't done any mods yet but I am thinking about the bar ends and new grips. I like the idea of the throttle rocker. Iv'e talked to guys that use them and they say they like them. I was also wondering about your undertail kit and how hard it is to install it. The flushmounts are like the ones iv'e been looking at, did you install them yourself? Your bike looks great with what you've done. How did you get your stock grips off.

Yes every mod done to the bike was done by me. You don't have to take the stock grips off the bike if your installing Grip Puppies from California Sport Touring. If your going to install them, they are about 3/4 inch to long. I cut them with a razor knife and used one of those 3M sanding blocks to round off the edges so they match the factory edge before installation. Then take some Windex Glass Cleaner and spray it on the inside of the Grip Puppie, and spray a little on the stock grip. Slide the Grip puppie into place over the stock grip. There is no need to remove the stock grips. For $7.50 with free shipping I always have an extra pair laying around. When the old ones wear out I will replace them with new ones. In my opinion they are more comfortable than any of the high priced grips on the market today. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I don't mind helping. Jay
All I did was follow the instructions that MOTOTECK provided.
This undertail installation is quite easy, the hardest part is to cut the under tray, I have teamed the ZX6R from 98 to 02 with the ZX9R 98 to 01 because they are so much alike, but I will specify differences when needed.
1. Remove the 2 seats, the 2 grab bars, the tail section and tail light, empty your trunk space, and watch for any wires in the area where you have to cut, you can cut the under tray with a Dremel, a good utility knife or a saw, you can also cut it in place or remove it all and cut it on a table, I prefer to do it on a table, if you want to do it that way, continue to dismantle the tray by removing the battery and all electrical components, once there cut it like the pictures shown below:
2. Once that is done re-install the under tray in place, put back all electrical components in place, tail light and install the battery at the last moment.
3. install the stainless license plate bracket on the undertail, mark and drill the spot as shown on the pictures,
4. Put back in place the tail section, install the undertail and make the connections for the rear blinkers and to the LED license plate light to 12 volts live current, I suggest to the tail lights.
5. Also strongly suggested is a heavy duty flasher relay, this relay installed in place of the stock unit will slow down the blinking speed to normal. We have them in stock at $5.95

Very easy installation. I did it in about 2 hour. Key to everything turning out good. Don't rush, take your time.

Credit for the find goes to ZZRrocket for the find on the barends. I never claimed I was the finder of this product nor was it stated in my post. I just like to pass on good finds regardless of who or where they come from as long as they work. Although I must say that they are definately a quality product.
