Default Taking a little longer to start??

I noticed after my 600 mile service that the bike takes longer to start when cold. Yes, the choke is on and I have to give it a liiiiiittle bit of throttle to speed up the starting. They had to sync my carbs and lower my Idle at service so maybe this is normal.

I would take it back and tell them since they serviced it you are having this problem...would not take kindly to having to pay them for it to be corrected either!

Its gotten better but I think its because my start technique is better. I just hold in the start until Im sure its running under its own power.

turn the idle up a little. Should be a little black knob on the left side under the carb bank. Turn it clockwise an 1/8 turn or less. The tach on the dash is not accurate enough to set a perfect idle speed with. They usually read a bit high.

that's what I've done too now. I don't really like having it try to start for a couple of seconds because my old 500 started within a second of holding the starter but I'll deal. I just fear wearing out the starter or something if I have to hold it like that. Manual says as long as you don't hold for more than 5 seconds that you're fine. Still, just sounds like it's struggling. I changed idle to about 1200rpm and that helped but still has a little trouble.

could be the relative cold weather...guess i'll find out in a couple weeks when the florida "winter" ends and it gets sweltering hot again!

My buddy has a 2005 and he has hard cold starts too. Maybe its a carb thing...because I notice that all my friends with FI start right even when cold.
