Default Changing oil...(remove fairing?)

Will I need to remove the left fairing to get to the filter when it comes time to the oil change? How is this done if needed and does anyone have any pics with fairing removed?

I do it without removing the fairing. I took a washer slovent bottle and hacked it up to act as a big funnel to catch the filter and oil that comes out. I used the top part of the bottle and the cap now acts as the bottom.

The only catch is that I don't warm the engine before an oil change. I just let it drain for a while. All the oil is in the oil pan from the last time I rode. I don't let the oil get really old before I change it anyway. But I snake this thing I made in the front opening and wedge it between the inside of the fairing and the header.

Taking off the fairing is very easy on this bike anyway. 4 screws and 3 allen head bolts. The thing to be careful with is lower front part. There is a v shaped plastic piece that one of the screws goes in to. It also has some pin like retainers.

I only remove the left side fairing for ease of getting to everything!

I remove the fairing also, just 'cause it makes it easier to get to. If you spill a little pulling the filter back, you can get it without contorting yourself to get a second arm in there. Makes the job much easier. The Fairing comes off easy enough.
