Picked up my ZZR last month. Can't wait for the break-in period to be over so I can see what it's really capable of.

I bought mine at the end of October last year. I've been enjoying every minute I ride it (I have about 1700 miles). It isn't the fastest bike in the world, but it is more comfortable than the 636 ZX6R (IMHO) and the price is very, very good, too.

I would just like to say that the 05 zzr is the most uncompfortable bike i have ever sat on. They should call the seat orthopedic! Its an utter disgrace to its predessors.

Just picked up an '05 ZZR 600 last week myslf. Love it! Just wondering if anyone here knows which fender elminator fits it? I've heard the Comp. Werkes kit for the '02 ZX6E will fit, but then I heard it wouldn't.

Also, which flushmounts are you guys using on it? Thanks for the input!

Default Just my opinion

Well, I take my bike in for it's 500 mile service tomororw, though I've gone over 900 miles already. The bike is very responsive and easy to control. It is also quick enough, though certainly not the fastest 600 as I heard mentioned earlier, but more than enough speed for any poser like me. I haven't been able to pull front end up with out clutch work, though must admit I don't want to abuse it too much until 1,000 miles, but then, stay off the sidewalks!

I agree with the seat comment, I love my bike don't get me wrong, but for 8k you would think you could sit on the seat with out feeling like a sheep in Montana.

Not having any kind of gas light sucks agreed, use that trip odometer and get the gas @ 140-150 miles; or get good at finding that reserve switch.

Top end, well, I haven't the balls for that yet. I did 118mph and wasn't even trying. Yeah, I know, break in period. What can I say? I hate SUV's.

The turn signals suck too, seems like they would spring the extra $50 bucks for the shut off switch, can't count the times I drive with blinker going. I would rather have my eyes on the ladies or the road than watching for run-away blinker lights.

I've also heard mentioned and have noticed that the first 3 gears make a pretty noticeable clunk sound when shifted, and yes, even when I first got it. At first I thought maybe it just needed to get broken in, and maybe it will clean up later. My guess after reading the manual is the system that is supposed to insure a neutral shift at stop. However, this only works if you come to stop in 2nd gear. If you stop in 1st, you have to shift back to 2nd, and then 1st again, then it will only shift neutral. Easiest I found was clutching in 2nd and stop, then shift first, now you will only shift to neutral and do the least amount of clutching/clunking.

I would recommend the bike, it is faster than my FZR was, but not my CBR, it is more comfortable as far as body position. The blue looks real sharp, definitely a head turner. Sunday I take my first girl on a ride, so I'll pop back and give some feedback on 2 person handling. Cause after all, isn't that why we try so damn hard to look cool?

If anyone has any suggestions for mods, please jump in. I'm thinking exhaust and change sprocket for low end speed.

OK. I have the 2000 model but here is a pic. It is the same as the 05 ZZR and notice the D&D as well . As for speed, just the other day on some abandoned roads I had mine up to 140 and that was from a stop and a little over half a mile long. I let off way early so I am sure it has much more. I did somewhere around 132 in the 1/4 mile but that is indicated speed its not necessarily that fast (maybe? I don't know) I have the slip on and a K&N so I figure that helps a bit. Also, my friend on his 03 Gixxer seemed to be a few MPH faster but he can't loose my on the highway or back roads at all he has K&N and a Yosh slip on.
This is a very good handling fast and comfortable sportbike. I think it is neat that they brought it back.

P.S. All you have to say about the D&D on these bike is that it is freakin loud!!! That is all.

You lie, try actually sitting on one. If you have then you must be Quazy Moto or some type of freakin hunchback J/K but this is the first I have ever heard of complaints.

The signals suck? I don't know what real sportbikes out there have automatic turn off switches. I don't think they are standard on anything but Harley's and maybe touring bikes. This isn't really a touring bike by any means, it is a sportbike just like it was 5 years ago. Just a little bit off performance of the newer 600's.
The tranny? You might be doing something wrong because I can shift without the clutch and don't even feel it. With the clutch and it will shift so smooth my passenger doesn't realize I am shifting. Maybe more practice will help and you might want to finish breaking it in too. Come back after you can shift in the 10k+ rpm range and see if it is smoother.

The statement about how to get it in neutral when you stop is freakin wierd too. I always shift all the way down to first when stopping (your supposed to) and then a quick blip into neutral is all it takes. Maybe more practice? I think once you get used to it everything will start going smoother but at least get through breakin before giving a full review.
