Default valve adjustment, or worse?

well, i took my zx7 for a ride today. I haven't ridden it for a while since I have my gixxer 1000 now, but I noticed it's developed a ticking sound from the left side of the motor. I took it drag racing last time I rode it to that may explain it a bit.

what is the most likely the problem? should I check the valve adjustment? its been a long time since they've been checked. or could it be something else?

thanks!
