Default bike not starting intermittanly

My ZX-7 intermittenly is not starting, I'm thinking it is a prob with the starter button. (I read about it in a similar post for a ZX-7). The lights come on, but nothing happens when I hit the button. I have to either hit the button a few times or turn the iginition on or off to get it to fire. Is there a problem with the button on these models?

( I couldn't find the original thread, I had to ask again)

thanks
Anthony

I had the exact same problem on my 03. Check your ignition circuits starting from the switch and look for any damage along the entire routing path. You will have to pull the tank and left fairing because the circuits route underneath and to the left. I found two circuits with exposed copper strands grounding out on the engine. This also caused my taillamp fuse to blow intermittently. I fixed the damaged wire and never had the problem again, well at least, until my accident in June. My bike is currently sitting awaiting parts.

Furthermore, check the routing of your kick stand switch circuits. Mine was routed in a manner that put stress on the wire which would eventually lead to degradation of the copper strands. I straightened that out.
