Default zx7R Issues need help

Guys -
I don't know where to start. The bike was sitting for about 2 1/2 weeks in the garage. I was out of town and came back wanting to ride. I tried to start it up and it didn't want to. It finally started up, and was running kind of rough, but thought it was because it was cold. I let it warm up, drove off and it felt weird. The throttle response was weak and it wasn't sounding right, like maybe only firing out of a few cylinders. Instead of having the nice sportbike sound, it has like a groggy sound almost like a dirt bike when excelerating, any ideas? I changed the spark plugs, cleaned the filter, but still the same issue. HELP

sounds like junk in the carbs, but that's just a guess. Try some fuel system cleaner and run the piss out of it for a bit. Or you could clean the carbs.

Yeah check the carbs and maybe balance(sync) them also. Check plugas to see how the bike is running.

Well, I will try and post info as I can get it, so the knowledgable ones can help. I tried to start it a little while ago and it back fired. Next hit, it started, but just like stated previous, sounds groggy. What do you guys use to clean the carbs? I am not that knowledgable about engines, but I can tool around. Thanks for your help to this point.

I had a similar situation with my 01 750, check the plugs, I swapped them out and that cured the problem for me. The thing was the plugs didn't look dirty to me. but apprently it was enough to make it run on 3 cylinders and not hold an idle.
Hope that helps

I thought it was the plugs also, I changed them out and the problem is still there.

Mine was running rough and groggy after sitting for a week. I took it out and rode hard with a group of guys and it cleared right up. Just needed to work everything out of the carbs I suppose. Easy street riding probably won't do it, or at least it didn't for me.

Funny you should mention this. I haven't ridden mine in about two weeks. Went to start it the other day - nada. Just kept cranking; nothing.
Even with the charger on it would not start.

As for fuel system cleaner, try something called BG44K. It is sold only at auto dealerships. I have been running it through my truck for years. Runs like a champ.

Or you try some stuff called Seafoam that is sold at Autozone or Pepboys. Both are fuel system cleaners.

I think it is a combination of bad/stale gas and a weak battery for my bike.
I will try again this weekend.

I finally got it running, seems to stall a little at low rpms, but sounds tons better. I am going to try the stuff you are talking about also. I think there was just some crap in the carbs.
