Default swingarm stand

I'm coming up on my 7500 mile service and still don't have a swingarm stand. I've looked around at the usual sources, but $100-150 seems like a bit much for something so mechanically simple. Has anyone tried these eBay stands?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Swing...QQcmdZViewItem

Any recommendations for other cost effective stands? I obviously don't want something that will cause me to drop my bike and really piss me off.

Is there any benefit to going swingarm pad vs. spools?

You will get every bit of the $150.00 you invest in a good set of stands...Go with Pit Bull...You'll probably never have to buy another set in your lifetime...

Spools are also an excellent investment...Soooooooooooooo much easier to use than putting the stand underneath the actual swingarm...

Oh yeah, my buddy bought a set off ebay just like that...They sucked...They're just too weak and clumsy...Don't skimp on this purchase...You won't regret it...

thanks, so skip the ebay stand. Will do.

The pitbull stands look nice. I just have a hard time justifying something so mechanically simple. That's more than a nice aluminum hydraulic race jack for a car. I was looking at the different ones LP offers. I'll probably end up with one of them.

Do the spools really make it that much easier? I was thinking of getting the Pro Impact swingarm slider spools anyhow, just didn't know if that was the way to go for a stand.

Definately go with the spooled version. As is stated, you'll get your monies worth. Those "universal" stands with the pads suck. I used one with my old ZX-7 and the swingarm actually slipped down on the pads to the point where the arm narrows and the bike fell off the stand. Luckily the stand got wedged in the arm so the bike didn't fall completely on it's side. Unfortunately, it put a huge gouge in the swing arm that I couldn't ever get rid of.

Just fork over the dough to get the spools and a good stand and know that your $150 was well spent.

I have a set of the Hindel stands they offer a discount for this forum go to the group deals section, i got mine for 135 shipped come with spool type ends. + set of spools is 15 bucks on ebay. Nice stands almost compare to pitbull ones in the thick tubbing they use.

There's also the Vortex stands, they're excellent quality and very stable, also they are cheaper than the Pit-Bulls, but I found out that for some reason it doesn't fit the 7r very well if you're using spools, maybe it's just my spools though.....

Oh and I heard the LP stands tend to be wobbly.

Get Spools.

Get GOOD stands... why put a bike worth thousands of dollars on cheap stands???

You'll kick yourself for cheaping out if your bike goes down because of "bargain" stands.

SkyDork that happened to me too with my old LP stand!! Put a little gouge on my swingarm. Not a happy camper about that.

Spend the money on a good stand. Why cheap out and have your expensive machine fall off of cheapo stand? Kinda like not wanting to buy a $400 leather jacket instead of the $10,000 skin graft, know what I mean?

After my LP incident I bought a Pitbull stand.

Those ones suck, I bough a set for 99 buck and could barely lift the bike off the gound and when I finally did I just did not fell comfotable. Go on ahead and fork out the cash for a decent set of LP race stands, they are sturdy and easy to lift that 500lb bike up.
