Default Fuel for my bike

Hi folks ,I have a question about fuel. I'm wondering how everyone else's performance has been with their fuel choice. I met someone the other day running supreme(hightest) fuel rather than regular unleaded and they were having trouble with their bike running too hot with the higher octane rating and they were returning to the manufacturers reccomendation of 87 octane. Does anyone know what the manufacturer suggests on a 99 zx-7r. I haven't had any trouble with the higher octane but I'd kinda like to know if anyone has had any issues or info on this matter. I'd also like to say how great this online forum is and how impressed I am that everyone is so riding gear oriented. I for one have been riding bikes for awhile both on and off road and take it pretty seriously. Sure there are gaps in my knowledge of specific motorcycle topics but when it comes to crashing and landing I feel like I'm about as qualified as Evil Knievel and have had more than a few close calls and my gear has litterally saved my hide. I have happily influenced more than a few friends to pursue this hobby and the guys and gals I ride with won't ride without gear. Road rash isn't cool, but we think looking like a storm trooper on a bike is. Gotta love the biker community

I used to run hightest (93 octane+), but last year I just tried plain old Regular (87 octane). Noticed no difference in performance.

I usually pick the octane based on my mood at the time....

Thanks for the reply, yeah i couldn't really see much difference in performance between supreme and regular so if everyone else is getting around ok on regular maybe i'll save a few bucks from now on. Fuel prices are started to work their way back up around here,i'll be glad come summer that i'm back on two wheels.

Run the recommended octane (I don't know what that is for your bike), anything more is just a waste. Higher octane does NOT mean more power.
There's a thread in General right now about this.
Fuel Grade Question???
