I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I just bought a 1999 ZX-7R w/ 5500 miles last Saturday. Had to make an 800 mile trip to pick it up and bring it home, but it was worth it. I'm stoked and can't wait for warmer weather. I went for a short ride after work this evening even though it was only 40 degrees. I'm sure I'll be on here a lot reading up.

Congrats! It looks like mine (when I first bought it).

Now go remove those reflectors off the side and back. Remove the stock pipe too. Get a Muzzy or Akropovic.

yeah, I plan on removing the reflectors. I was just thinking about how ugly and out of place they are earlier today. I'm also going to get some flush mount turn signals and maybe a fender eliminator. The pipe will stay stock for now. I have a lot of riding to catch up on

Here are the flushmounts I put on: Lockhart Phillips Flushmount V's.

I found those in an old post and wasn't sure if they'd fit the same way on a 99. They look awesome and that's probably what I'm going to go with if they will fit correctly. Do you have to splice into the factory wiring? I'm not big on hacking up stock parts on anything.

My bike is a '99.....

Unfortunately yes. The stock wiring connector ends do not match up to the Lockhart wiring.

What I did was cut a few inches off of the stock lights wiring. Better than cutting the stock harness; I can always go back to stock lights that way. Then I cut the ends off of the LP lights. I spliced the stock wires onto the the LP lights. Now the lights just plug into the stock wiring harness like they were stock turnsignels.

The thing with the LP V's is they are on "backwards". You will see what I mean if you get the lights. They are supposed to be pointy side towards the front, but I just reversed them. They fit nicely into the stock hole.

My only gripe about the lights is they come with double-sided tape. The tape sucks. At speed the lights will wrip off. So I Krazy Glued them to the fairings. No problems ever since.

awesome, I wasn't sure if it was the same year or not. Thanks! I don't mind cutting the harness of the stock signals. I could always pick up another set of them if I needed to. Don't know about the crazy glue though. I might try some RTV silicone or something that could be removed if needed. Thanks for the info.

Looks good - Just got a 7R not to long ago myself. Not as many accessories for this bike as there are for others, but it handles great - top speed 158 so far!!

that damn "CITY LIGHT" lol that most European versions have or even the cover for the light(US) lol. I wonder if anyone has an extra cover. My bike looks weird with that hole on top of the headlights
