99 ZX-7R tires
hey folks I've been reading a few reviews of tires and have been getting a bit confused. I'm looking for new tires front and rear for my 99zx-7r. the most consistent thing i'm hearing is to stay away from the dunlops. i currently have bridgstones and they seem pretty good but i wonder if there is a better tire out there. i live in an area full of twisty roads with decent tarmac and i'd love to find a tire that will alow me to explore the limits of my bike further. i'm not that agressive a rider but i do like to play a bit and throw my bike around these beautiful nova scotia roads. any help would be greatly appreciated.

From http://homepage.ntlworld.com/webzxr/zxr750r/index.html
Quote:
# Dunlop 204: The stock D204 are terrible. They lack of grip and especially feedback, I never felt that I could trust them.
# Pirelli Dragon Evo Corsa: They are Very good. Good grip, neutral steering. Feedback is good, but could do with more when on the limit. Wear is as can be expected for a performance tyre.
# Dunlop 207 (180/55 at the rear): As I am now using my ZXR750R for track days I decided to fit the D207 (standard compound). To sharpen up the steering further I went for a 180/55 rear instead of the standard 190/50. The difference is staggering. The steering became so quick that I had to raise the ride height at the front to slow it down a touch. Anybody trying this on stock suspension settings will not have any problem and will simply be able to get on and enjoy sharper steering. The 207s are more triangulated than the Pirelli and grip well. The Dragons are much grippier, but, as this bike is going to be mainly used on the road, the 207s will be fine and I will hopefully be able to get more miles out of them.
# Pirelli Dragon Evo Corsa front and Pirell Diablo (180/55) rear: If you decide to use a 180/55 on the rear the Pirellis are far far better than the Dunlops. I used a Dragon Evo Corsa front as I had one laying around already, but I am sure it would work just as well with a standard Diablo up front. On these the bike turns quickly, but more smoothly than on the Dunlops. Grip and feedback is much much better with this combo.

I Michelin Pilot Sports on mine right now. Go with the 180 rear tire. You won't regret it. This spring I will be looking for some new baloney skins. Considering the Michelin Powers or the Metzeler M-1's.

Michelin Pilot Powers and you can end your search.
I have not read one bad review of these tires. I have them on mine and they are sticky... and don't need a lot of time to heat up.
