See if the bike will start with the clutch pulled in.
I have starting problems with my 1999 too. I thumb the Start button and it just 'clicks'. I pull in the clutch and it starts somtimes. Other times I have to switch the key "on" and "off" before it will start.
Some here have mentioned a worn Start button problem. See if you can find that in a search topic.
I know it is mentioned here: http://www.webzxr.co.uk/
Good luck. I wish I could fix mine....

I'm about to get a 1995 ZX7. I've heard that the plastics are interchangable between the pre-1996 bikes and the 1996 and on bikes. Can anyone confirm or deny that? From what I know, the plastics can be swapped and only the headlights need to be changed. The bike's going to need paint so I figured I might as well have updated plastics as well, but don't want to jump right into a huge headache either. Thanks.

I just gave my race plastics off my '01 to a buddy of mine who has a 97 and they fit pretty good.

Thanks, I am contemplating the ACU pattern, just trying to convince the guy who did the DCU paint to do it, without charging me the price of the bike lol.
