And the last issue of sportrider mag, did an article on speedometer error. The results after testing should most bikes were off by as much as 20mph at their top speed. They where around 10mph off around the 60-70mph range...

True.......but the ZX-7R's speedo's are more accurate. They are not gear-driven; the speedo cable is hooked up to the left fork leg and not off the tranny.

Mine topped out at like 164mph...but I had rmps left. Is there a fuel cutoff or something that prohibits the bike to not go over xxxmph?

no, there's no fuel cut off... it's simply limited by horsepower and gearing.

That was "indictated". Probably not actually the speed.
On fuel injected bikes, like the Gixxer's, I believe there is a fuel cut-off limit. But not our carburated Ninjas. Top speed would be controlled by weight, HP, and gearing.

At those speeds, top speed is mostly affected by wind drag. It takes a lot of horsepower to overcome it.

160mph indicated (on the long bridge connecting Tampa with Clearwater/St. Petersburg), had rpm left, just ran out of room...
Oh yeah, and 140mph indicated 2-up, would not go any faster, WOT.

39mm flat slides, intake no air box, full exhaust, racing clutch and much more to much to list.I am doing internals in a month, big bore, cams, head work. I'm ordering everything now.
When I was running those speeds I was at 15000 rpm.
