YZF600R The perfectly balanced middleweight supersport machine. A model of civility attuned to the everyday needs of the real world. That's not to say the 600R doesn't feast on twisty tarmac as hungrily as its supersonic R1 and R6 siblings.
i was just curious how many yzf owners there were on this site since this fourm is so abandoned. anyways all yzf owners post up about your ride, lets hear year, mileage, mods, pics etc. whatever u want, i just think we need some more activity by yzf owners.
I have a 97' yzf w/ 19,000 miles, my second bike, wrecked 5 months after buying it. mods so far, just frame sliders, k and n, vance and hines ss2, custom tail light, hyper white headlight, red windscreen and thats about it.
I check in on this site two or three times a week, I'M over at the http://www.yzf600r.com/phpBB2/ site witch is very, very active. I'M Yamahauler over there.
Here is a list of my mods.
My screen name is the same on both websites, although I haven't been on the web much lately. Love my Thundercat. We may not be the loudest bike owners but I loke to think we are more refined in our tastes. And we are certainly here.
I just got my '95 YZF600R... badly needs to be de-badged and wheels polished(already partially stripped)... can't stand purple can live w/ the blue though... 27.7k miles and already dropped by my roommate rollin it out of the shed... but he's payin to fix the windscreen, mirror, and cowling
__________________ 04 F4i... bought w/ 2276 on the clock, plan on putting on a LOT more 91 VR4... BPU+ = not fast enough 95 YZF600R... first bike... RIP 9/22/06 thanks to a-hole in green Chrysler Cirrus
I'm considering getting a new YZF600R. I took my wife to a cycle shop where we sat on lots of bikes two up, and she thought the YZF600R was one of the most comfortable. In doing a little research on them, I noted a couple of possible weak points. 1.2nd gear. and 2.countershaft nut working loose and possibly damagaing the shaft. Anyone had any problems in these areas? Other than those, I find the bike comfortable, good looking, I hear it gets really good gas mileage etc. I did ride an early version with the two piece seat.
I have 2005 R6, and I love it. Since July 4th I've put 7000 miles on it. Its my first Sports Bike. It took about a week of hard riding to not have any muscle aces if riding more than 2 hrs at a time. I also had the chance to take it to the drag strip twice and rance 11's in the quarter mile. The bike is still stock except for the mich. pilot I put on the rear. New tire hooks up great! If you liked it on the floor you will love it on the road.
Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen (smoke)
Pyramid seat cowl.
2002 GSXR mirrors
Chrome bar ends and brake resevoir cap
18LED turn signals
Silver rim stripes (www.tapeworks.com)
Electronic mods:
Custom LED Flasher Relay (www.customled.com)
Custom LED Magic Blinkers (turns LED lights into running lights)
Future stuff:
Chrome or powder coated wheels (and maybe swing-arm)
Factory Pro Shift Kit (should take care of 1-2 shifts)

Not grey poupon refined though. More of an understanding that the value of a bike isn't strictly measured in CC's refined.
I got my cat as a hold me over until I got my sport tourer, but it's quickly won a permanent spot in my stable.

People (other riders) ask me all the time if I am going to transition to another (Fi) 600 or something bigger. I really can't justify a want for another bike. The YZF (IMO) is the best all-around 600cc sportbike available. A great combo of sport and tour.
