YZF600R The perfectly balanced middleweight supersport machine. A model of civility attuned to the everyday needs of the real world. That's not to say the 600R doesn't feast on twisty tarmac as hungrily as its supersonic R1 and R6 siblings.
I just Purchased a 98' 600R and I love it!!! It has 25K and it is a sweet running Bike. I am getting some new Dunlop 208's this weekend so i hope to let er' rip.
And ummm... be sure you scuff those new tires up well before you open it up. (shameless attempt at increasing the length of this thread)

By this time tomorrow, I'll be fueled up and ready to begin the first leg of my long weekend to the TX hill country. I fly home tonight, throw some stuff into my tailbag, and I'll be all set. About 340 miles there, about 240 on Sat, and another 340 or so back. Buddy that's going with me is renting an FZ6.

I just put a set of the new Dunlop Qualifiers. I don't know much about them yet but from what I hear everyone is talking they are better then the PowerSports?

I'm really really curious as to what kind of mileage you get with the Qualifiers.
Do you commute or put on a lot of mileage or just do sport/weekenders?
I have a 95 YZf 600 that is being rebuilt as we speak. I just tore the motor apart and replaced every thing from seals, gaskets, main bearings, rod bearings, piston rings, other odd and ends for a rebuild, I replaced the throtal asembly, throtal cables, clutch cable, speedo cable, grips, sprockets front and back, chain, oil filter, oil, air cleaner, spark plugs, all fluids, ect. I also am in the process of painting the bike again.
The bike had about 50,000 miles on it from me the past 3 years. I love the bike but this is the last time I will do the work on it next time It gets scraped and I will buy an R1 or maybe a GSXR 750. I have nothing against the bike it's just time for a new one.

Just realized I never posted a follow up on this trip. We logged around 950 miles. Ride recap and pictures here:
I wish I would have came across one of those seat cowls when I had a YZF 600R! That makes the bike look sooooooooo much better! I don't have it any more, but I had an 01 600R that I put about 10,000 miles on for my first streetbike. I had the black windshield, smaller blinkers, a fender eliminator, stage two jet kit and a D&D pipe. I really liked everything about the bike except the D&D pipe. Man that thing was terrible! Nice and cheap, but it was way to loud. Anyway, nice bikes. A trip down memory lane for me.
what oil would you suggest is best to use in my yamaha in my 98 yzf600. also i heard the coolant at the yamaha shop is pretty much the same as the generic brand as far as performance. is this correct? what do you put in your bikes?
I always use Yamalube 20-40 weight. I just tore my motor down after about 30,000 miles and the motor was perfect inside.
