Hi there,
I'm an FZ6 owner (yes, the cushy bike with upright handlebars) who's looking at possibly upgrading the front end of my cycle. I just did a track day last Sunday and my 200+ lbs of weight was just too much for my non-adjustable front end. In addition to the lame forks, the FZ6 has less than stellar brakes.
After looking things over, it appears that it might be possible to graft an entire R6 front end onto the FZ6, by keeping the FZ6 triple clamps and just inserting the R6 fork tubes. But, I've never done anything like this and I need some info about the R6. The FZ6 has 43mm fork tubes, and I know that some R6s also have 43mm fork tubes, but I have no idea which ones. Does anyone have a list of specifications as the vary from year to year? I ASSume that the 43mm is the diameter of the upper tubes which attach to the triple clamp, but I haven't measured mine yet.
I also need to know the length of the R6 forks, to see if they would be comparable to the FZ6. I was told that the R6 wheels and the FZ6 wheels are identical, but I haven't verified that yet. There's also the issues of using R6 rotors if I attempt to keep my FZ6 wheels.
So, anyone have the specs that I need, or knows where to send me?
Am I crazy to attempt such a thing?
