Machismo...
Granted, I have only been a member of this site for a little over a month now but I find this site dripping with testosterone driven anti-female sentimentality. Many disparaging comments about ladies ridding/driving abilities and comments like:
"I would like to see all wives learn how to ride a moto, but for emergencies only. It's just too freakin dangerous for the babes."
"Maybe we should make a girls racing league so I can just turn the channel like WNBA."
"...they break so freakin easy. Due to small bones and small muscles. Yeah, some talk the talk and pose, when things go to shit, they do not bounce back and hurt forever."
"Im 6'5' 230 and have worked out my whole life and was really beat up from a 30 MPH low side.
I cant imagine what would have happened to a 25 yr old 120 lb woman - Let alone a 50 yr old one....
Theyd still be in traction."
I find this disturbing to be truthful, even if it's just joking there is still truth in the comments as to how the poster feels. Maybe I'm just being hyper sensitive? The constant put-downs about womens abilities is well, hurtful. Don't judge me or my riding skills if you have not ridden with me.
Sorry, I just needed to vent a little but I'm all better now!

Sam, don't take it personally. Those comments you quoted were from a couple of guys who just recently started posting crap like that. Esp one, who must have recently been turned down, or maybe still hasn't gotten over some highschool incident with a girl and decided to start venting here.
Most of the guys here do love the ladies, esp ladies who ride. Don't judge them all by the pathetic postings of a few insecure losers.

Sportbike: a few...but 2003 RC51 usually
as AC said, don't worry about it overly much. There are a few member who are like that and most of them leave after awhile because not only do they get the from the awesome women on this forum, but many of the male members jump in to defend also.
However, if you see any posts that are derogatory in such a way where it insults you, (not just the small penis syndrom), report the post, or PM AC or I, and we will do our best to help in the situation to the best of our abilities.
And welcome to SBN

I joined this forum a while back but only started posting recently. Ignorant comments are an unfortunate by product of open forums. Some call it "trolling" intended to start controversy, some are just the comments of people who don’t know any better.
My wife will be joining this forum shortly. As we speak, she is making her way up from Florida to join me in NJ. Her bike is not far behind her in the moving van. I enjoy sharing the riding experience with her and I look forward to introducing her to twisty roads that just don’t exist in Florida. I know she is looking forward her very first track day at NJMSP. Most of the guys I ride with have utmost respect for the ladies who are pioneers of what is presently a male dominated sport.

I totally respect women riders. There are some on a local forum here in Houston that would put most men to shame. I've even seen a couple of challenges here recently on the track where the women owned the men. I love seeing a woman in a predominantly mans sport kick butt. Stuff like that happens and the snide remarks and comments start to die down and it gets quiet.
My wife rides a V-Max (1200cc) now and I have the little 600. I told her that it's a good thing I don't have a big ego and have to run out and buy a Busa or a 14 to try and prove something. And when we go riding it's like my bike is not even there, she gets looks and comments all day. I think it's way cool.

Women who ride are strong people. The adversity of gear that is designed for men, bikes that are designed for men, the whole 'Power' thing just feeds to most mens ego's. A women that has overcome that just to ride, or do trackdays, or RACE, is tops in my books! I'm not going to put you (women riders) in the class of "If you ride, you're sexy", It's so much more than that. You are riders, male, female, doesn't matter to me, you are riders...I respect that. I hope that redeems some of us (men).
