I thought that's what you meant, but wasn't sure. Nah, if I'm going to have a custom jacket made, I'll go down to Syed. They are in Orlando. In fact, I'm seriously considering doing just that.

So I ended up ordering the Alpinstars Stella SMX-4. I LOVE them!!! They came in today, and while tight the first couple of times I went to put them on, they're fine already (rode in them most of today). They have plenty of protection with the carbon fiber knuckles. They also feel amazing when on since they are lined with the goats skin or whatever. I'm so happy I decided to go with these. Just thought I'd let y'all know in case any of you are looking to buy some new ones.
I know this is the Women's section but I have to chime in on the Alpinestars SMX line of gloves. I DO NOT recommend them for anything more than gardening. Really.
Two years ago I went down hard on a spirited ride. I was wearing A* SMX-2 Air Carbon gloves, which are very similar to the SMX-4 with respect to construction and materials used in the palm area. Turns out they were a bad choice:

Oh crap... you are right Kerry. I guess I was thinking of the Stella GP gloves. I just looked up the SMX-4 gloves, and they aren't really gauntlets. Definitely not what I was thinking of.
Sassy.... are you going to the track with those gloves? I don't know if they will qualify as gauntlets?

Holy crappola! Yea, I'd say, not a good choice. How long did that hang around and hurt?

I kept the wounds moist and covered and never allowed a scab. It heals faster that way. Neosporin, 4x4 gauze, Telfa pads, and first aid tape were my very good friends.
To make things worse, I'm a software developer. Imagine trying to slam a few hundred lines of code every day . . . . .
Funny thing about adrenaline - I didn't realize that my hands were injured until, after running around looking for my bike, I tried to stand the bike up and was greeted with some brilliant pain.
