I'd seen pics of it on another forum. Wasn't sure when it was comin' to the states. Looks good. It's about time they changed up the design.

Is the change strictly cosmetic, or are there performance/engine upgrades as well?

Cosmetic for the most part... but WHAT a change... the looks were the biggest downfall of the old 250/500. The new 250 and 650 look much better. The 250 looks even better than the 650. I think the biggest performance upgrade the 250 got was 17" wheels.

I believe they also did some engine tweaking to increase it's low to mid range. The looks of the bike are a FAR improvement, and now we should no longer have to hear "but the 250's are so ugly" anymore. Actually what will happen is people will come here and say, "I don't have enough money for a new one, and the old ones are ugly, I'll just buy an F3/F4/some 600 instead".

Actually there's quite a few changes besides better bodywork and a bit more power. They've finally gone to 17" wheels, which should allow a bigger choice of excellent tires. There's a few more, I can't recall them all now, but well worth a relatively small price increase of $500.

I might just have to buy one when my Z hits 50-60k miles. I really liked the '95 I taught my Nephew on, and this new one sounds that much better. Here's the specs on this new little gem:

Two days ago when I saw it on Kawasaki's website (I check this site regularly) I almost crapped in my pants. I first thought, "Hm, they made a boo-boo and put a 650R picture there. Then I looked back at the seat......Whoa! Wait a minute there. Now just hold on. They redesigned it!"
I was shocked for a long time. I'm still recovering. A, what, almost 15 year old design, updated? Kawasaki, you finally took my suggestion seriously; after I buy one. All is well though. I have since wrecked my 2007 250 and bought a 650. Still, what an awesome design they have come up with.

I'm thinking this might be the bike for my son (16yr old), maybe when he turns 17 and is about to graduate H.S. He only wants a 600 for the looks, like most young teen males, so now that they redesigned the 250; perfect solution.. YEAH Kawasaki !!!

that things pimpin' ..... they need to start making all the 250's that appealing so the n00bs don't go out and buy bikes that are too much for them.
