Default Need advice on buying pants

Hello all,

So far I have purchased two pairs of gloves, a Joe Rocket leather jacket and Alpinestar boots. Now I need some help with the leather pants since I can't seem to find a store near me that has any pants for me to try on. I'm 5'8", I weigh 134, I wear either a size 5/6 or 7/8 pant/jean depending on the cut and designer, and I have a 33 in. inseam. Does this sound like anyone here and if so what size do you normally wear in leather pants and what brand? Thanks for any advice you ladies can offer.

I have a pair of Joe Rocket riding pants that seem to be an actual size 6, if you want to try them. I bought them for myself, in the size I normally wear for jeans (10), but they turned out to be MUCH smaller! I have a girlfriend your size who tried them on and they fit her great, but she didn't like them because they didn't sit ultra low on the waist.

But they are riding pants, and they are supposed to save you from getting road rash on your butt & lower back, so of course they wouldn't be low cut.

If you want to try them, maybe we can get together for a ride sometime & I'll bring them along. If you like them I only want what I paid for them, which was $35.00 (on sale at New Enough).

They have 6 zippered pockets, and knee & hip armor.

This is me wearing the other pair I bought, which are a little too big but I'm tired of trying to get it right:

Are you saying that you bought a size M (10) and they fit like a 6?

Yep. It was very depressing too!

I should have gotten a 12, b/c the next size above that, which I got from a friend who made the same mistake I did, was too big.

I mean, I can't even get the smaller ones half way up my legs. And I'm not THAT fat!

If I thought they were long enough, I would buy them from you, but something tells me they will be too short.

Typically I wear (in a jean) size 4 Long (34" inseam), but in a riding pant with armour I think a 6 would be good.

I find them to be a little on the short side for my tastes. I usually get 34 length also, which is a little long for me, but I prefer it.

Huh, maybe I'll take back what I said in the other thread about the Joe Rockets being totally unstylish. Yours, acalliste, seem to be a much better fit. Mine are the puke brown color and look puffy in some places and are too short. And like your friend I just feel wrong wearing pants that don't hang off my hips.

Thanks, I'm glad they appear that way. I think they look more like the way you described yours, but the black hides it better.

For regular jeans, I completely agree about prefering the low-waist style. But for riding pants, the only thing low-rise pants do is show your butt crack, and make road rash on your back & butt much more likely in the event of even a mild crash.

It's a compromise, I know. Is risking your skin, and the chance of all that pain worth the fashion statement?

Sometimes I still do ride in my jeans. But I don't kid myself that they will protect me. It's a chance I take, even though I know it's not worth it.
