Smile Draggin Jeans or Icon Jeans for women?

Hi ladies! I was just wondering which of these 2 kinds of jeans offers the best protection or which of the 2 would you all prefer. I ordered a pair of cortech mesh pants but wanted a pair of protective riding jeans as well. I feel so much more comfortable in jeans and therefore want to wear one that will protect me as well.

When i think of riding in jeans i can't help to think of what one person told me about riding in jeans. He said don't ever wear jeans because jeans stick to the road if you fall. What a horrible thought! Is it true though? Any way all of the input i'm gonna receive will be greatly appreciated!

I have never heard that before, but I know jeans can't be considered protective gear. They are more likey to be ripped off you than not, and have no armor.

I've tried on the draggin jeans at Cycle Gear, and they seem better than fashion jeans. I wouldn't mind having a pair of them. But leather or textile riding pants will protect better.

i see what you're saying lilshorty...there are times when wearing riding pants somewhere seems like too much. like if you just want to run over to a friend's house. i've heard from other riders that icon womens jeans aren't that bad to wear, but do run a little small.

i got icon men's jeans and they are thicker but only have extra layers in the knee. draggin jeans have extra layers in the knee and butt area and seem safer then icon.

I've got a pair of the men's Icon jeans, and love them, but they're not as good as Draggin's.

Draggin jeans are reinforced with Kelvar, not just an additional layer of denim or canvas.

As for the women's Icon jeans, they don't seem much tougher than a pair of fashion jeans to me, and I've heard they fit horribly (literally 2-3 sizes too small, and even girls with "no" butt have complained they don't fit through the seat)

STAY AWAYYYYYYYYYYY from those.

I ordered 'em, and so did Acalliste (and a friend of hers, too, I believe) and each of us had the same complaint (and we're all different sizes/builds) "On what planet is this a size (whatever)?"

They're literally about 3 sizes smaller than what the label says, if not more. The waist on them looks like it would fit an 8 year old girl (and mine AREN'T a small size... LOL)...

they're on closeout for a reason!

I ended up getting another pair in a larger size that turned out to be a little too big, but not so big that I can't wear them. The sizing is VERY strange, and I'd only recommend getting them if you can either try them on before you buy, or if you don't mind buying a few sizes to figure out which one you need.

As far as functionality, I love them. Lots of zippered pockets and pretty comfortable, if a little warm. They will do well for the cooler months, I'll have more than enough room for long underwear beneath them.

I wear Draggin' jeans I bought from the Au website (much better styles). The pants are great. They are warmer than regular jeans since they are lined with Kevlar. You can feel the difference between them and regular jeans for sure.

DH also wears Draggin's. He lowsided and the pants held up fine. My jeans have had a few drops on the pavement and not a scuff (where the same fall tore a hole in the regular jeans).

Anyway, as said above, leather is still your best abrasion protection, but Draggin's do offer more than regular jeans.

Well don't shoot me for mentioning HD here, but.....

I recently bought a pair of Icon jeans at Cycle Gear. They Fit well and are roomy enough for under armor (got some Bohn on order).

However, was in the Harley store recently and they have a kevlar reinforced (knees and hips) riding jean. Bought a pair and after washing found them to be VERY comfortable. Still enough room for the underarmor as well but go up one size to keep room enough for the armor.

The icons are going back to the store BTW.

I also picked up a pair of the Joe Rockets on new enough. Agreed, with everyone above that they run very small. Also, if the point here is to find something stylish enough to wear when you're not on the bike I'd throw the Joe Rockets out the window. I'm just glad I didn't pay full price for them.

I went for the dainese cordura pants though cause I don't think that these pants actually are any different than Jeans. They WILL get torn on the asphalt and when they are torn....the protection will move from the place it should have been (knees & hips)
