Default First day on my 05 Yamaha FZ6

We bought it last Friday, but it had been raining cats and dogs ever since (local paper had a photo of someone kayaking down Main Street yesterday!) so it wasn't till today I actually got to ride the beast.

First, just about every bike is big for me. I'm just an inch over five feet tall, so this is probably the biggest bike I'll ever have unless I go the cruiser route. With a bit of lean I can get one foot on the ground, or with a lot of pelvic tilt I can get both tippytoes on the ground.

Overall, I had a BLAST on my first road bike! A couple of observations:
1) It sure doesn't have the sort of absorb everything suspension I'm used to
2) Some of the big bumps I rode over made things bounce so much my chest hurts!
3) Leaning forward so much, bugs down the cleavage really HURT! Must investigate leathers
4) There is this vibration thing at about 5000rpms that coupled with my having to lean forward, well, let's just say it gives new meaning to the term "Sweet Spot." Holy cow, talk about a two-wheeled orgasmatron! Unfortunately, 5k is about where highway speed hits in top gear. I need to either pick up the speed or drop down a gear. Sweet Jesus!
5) The mini-fairing is just tall enough to direct the wind into my face. My dirt bike helmet with the long visor won't cut it. Now I see why full face lids are so popular with the sport bike crowd.

Mostly sunny tomorrow and again on Saturday. Must go play some more!

The guys on the FZ6 board gripe about the vibrations; me, I don't mind so much.

Luckily, I've got seven inches on you. Air seems to hit me on my upper chest. I have considered a different shield, but have heard bad things about the tall Yamaha shield. I am worried the aftermarket shields may put the air in my face. You may have better luck.
