Then there's the OTHER side of the coin, the motto I picked up after one too many bad shop experiences when I was still a bit too timid to try certain things, and which cured me of my timidness:

Why pay somebody else $75.00 an hour to fuck up your bike, when you can do it yourself, for free?!!

i always had a friend do mine, after the first one or 2 too-costly trips to the shop.

i have seriously thought about getting trained to deal with it myself. would save the inconvenience of waiting around til when friends have spare time.
