Default Seat Height list

Since we have so many questions on appropriate bikes for our more petite sisters, I thought this might be useful info to have:

"The following is a listing of motorcycle seat heights from the lowest to the highest. All motorcycle seat heights are given in inches. Associated with each motorcycle seat height is the Year, Make, and Model of the motorcycle. These models have clickable links to Motorcycle Specifications. That way, the user can research individual models given the motorcycle seat height. The Motorcycle Specs also lead to detailed specs on the manufacturer's Web site...."

Excellent post, Tammy! This will be a great guide to have on here for all the vertically challenged people looking for a low-slung bike. Thank you!!

I've been wondering if anyone would do that. Did you cross-post in the Newbies section? I noticed they don't have the 650R Ninja in there, which was specifically designed with a lower (for sport bikes) seat height in mind. I believe it's just over 30" but am not certain.

Great post!

No, I sure didn't post it in the New Rider's section. Good idea though. I'll see if someone already has, and if not post it there too.

That is very cool....but as I like to beat dead horses, tank/seat width play a huge role in being able to reach the ground. I wish there was more data tied in with seat height then just overall measurement from the ground to the seat. It's a deceiving number.

Very true, you still want to sit on as many bikes as possible to see what they are really like.

But at least it's a start. If your inseam is only say, 26", you can be pretty sure that a 30"+ inch seat height is going to be a challenge.

It also gives links to general specs which some may be interested in.

Like me
But I'm always up for a challenge! Just not any sooner than I know I'm ready for it though... I know my limits.

Here's another site I just found, "The Short Bike List FAQ"

Quote:
Welcome to the Short Bike List (SBL), a list of motorcycles suitable for short beginning motorcyclists, and much more.

The SBL was originated by people who are generally around five feet tall, and as beginners found it frustrating to find motorcycles they could ride. The motorcycling community at large is rather ignorant about the needs of a short rider, and this FAQ is an attempt to support new short riders and educate well-meaning taller ones.
