The headache is probably b/c you are dehydrated. Drink lots of water before, during and after your ride, esp if it's hot.

Riding is a workout. If you don't already do some kind of exercise, you might want to start. I'm pretty beat after a long ride, or a track day, and I'm used to riding for hours and hours.

headache could be from your head being forced backwards due to air flow.

Strengthen your neck muscles via isometrics - put your right hand against your right temple and push against it for 10 seconds, relax and repeat for five reps.

Do this on left, right, front back of your head and it will really help to strengthen your neck.

Also, think about and work on relaxing your upper body when on the bike.

Don't forget that the wind is what dehydrates you...so even on a cool day you need to watch for dehydration.

Here I am sneaking around in the Women's forums again. I used to have a problem, but we wont talk about that.

I took a two year brake from riding and my head used to pound after a 300 mile ride.

Drinking water and strengthening those neck muscles will do wonders for you.

Now...300 miles is a walk in the park.

300 street miles is an average Sunday ride for me. Just have to stay hydrated.

I have to force myself to eat during long rides though. Riding makes me not feel pain & hunger for some reason. I don't feel either until I get home and unwind a bit (if I feel them at all). It's the strangest thing; I noticed it as soon as I learned to ride and it's been happening all these years. If I have a headache or cold symptoms (for example), it will go away as long as I'm riding, and return when I get off the bike.

+1 for the hydration
Another source: CO2 - Carbon Dioxide build up in your helmet can cause a headache and fatigue, make sure that you're getting plenty of ventilation. As it gets colder, many have closed the vents in the helmets and are wearing helmet skirts or balaclavas that can trap exhaled breaths and impede getting fresh air in. If you're trapped in low speed traffic, you'll get increased CO2 as well.
The medical term is hypercapnia. Hey, all that physics and physiology in dive school was good for something after all !!

Check the fit of your helmet...I had one that was too tight just below my ears/behind my jaws and it would give me a headache

I experience headaches after riding as well. I feel like a damn bobblehead after I ride..not to mention, I feel like I still have my helmet on hours after riding. I should probably get my helmet sized too!

Default weight of helmet

Sometimes the headache can be caused by the weight of the helmet. You tighten up your neck muscles to keep the head upright. Next thing you know-headache.
