I fully agree with the twist grip. That was the first thing I threw out was the thumb throttle. It's not hard to retro-fit one with a twistie, either. Not sure what make it is, but mine is a Yami, and I've got a Yami YZ250 twistie on it. It's a lot snappier, and I don't have the problems that some people have when it comes to throttling and turning. It's also better in the fact that it will get her used to that kind of throttle, and how responsive it is, so when she does do a switch, she'll already have that part in her helmet.

Oh she'll get a bike, that's for sure!! Just may take a little longer than I expected. Or I can wait two more weeks for our weekend at Deal's Gap and see what I can find out about how she feels about 2 or 4 wheels.

I could use this as an excuse to get me another toy, matching ATVs!!!!

Now to find me another gf to "help" me teach her to ride!!!!!!

Just get it for her anyways! Thats how I was - when I was 18 I bought a quad & didn't tell my parents...that is until I wanted to ride it on their trails. Now they know about the quad, are comfortable that I can ride it - so of course I went out & bought my bike. That may take some explaining. BTW, my quad is for sale, I guess you can say it was fun to start with but its not as fun as my little ninja now!

Default And another update....

Well, another update! I am taking my little girl (psst don't let her know I said that) to the bike shop tomorrow. We are going to see how she feels on two or four wheels. Either way I am getting her some boots for our last run at Deals Gap. They will most likely be off road type but ANYTHING is much better than her hiking boots.

Wish me luck ladies!!!!!!!

Good luck! You're taking her to Deals Gap? You are going to win the Dad of the Year Award if you keep this up!

This will be her second trip up there. She loves it up there.

Well, we just got back from the shop. She couldn't find one she felt comfortable on. We checked out Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and I think one Kawasaki. It was either the reach or peg placement. She is growing FAST so come summer time I'm sure she wil fit on just about anything. She did spot a few 4 wheelers. She went right to the fast ones (of course). Ones i won't even ride (well maybe LOL) So now we are back to four wheels.

+10000000 on that. My spouse is a Surgical tech, they actually do more surgeries and see more accidents involving ATV riders than they do motorcyclist. In fact, they have had to amputate several feet due to bone crushing of the ankle, and many, many abdoman and intestinal surgeries where the handle bars strike the mid-cage. After hearing about the accidents and surgies I don't know if I myself want to get back on a 4-wheeler.
