Default Finally...

Okay so it's been awhile since I've posted in here but other than the fact that I'm a noob...I had nothing else to talk about! But....NOW I DO!

Chris and I finally got a bike..well...he got HIS bike, a 2006 CBR600rr and it sure is nice! He bought it used so of course after he bought it I started to notice some questionable things about it. So with the help from y'all I was hopin to get some of our questions answered. The headlight caught my attention first, when just the regular lights are on...only one side lights up..he swears that it's probably normal but it just does NOT look right to me..when he switches to high beam both come on...anyone know much about this nifty new bike we have??

Ahh thanks, of course he said "told you" but hey that's my job as a girl to make sure he didnt get ripped off by the dealership (since he went to TN to buy the bike without me there) and another SMALL thing that kinda pissed me off was that a bunch of bolts were missing on the fairings and on the back..of course he didn't notice it till I pointed it out but still..oh yeah it also did not come with an owners manuel but that didn't bother him as much as it did me..i guess im just too curious about everything on it. And because we are in an apartment we don't have a garage so she's sittin right here in our livingroom as our new centerpiece hahaha atleast till we get her a nice storage building somewhere.

Check ebay, you might be able to pick up an owner's manual there. As for the missing bolts, you'll probably have to go to the dealership for them.

I usually just release and repull the clutch lever.

No, there's no grinding noise because I've been on the bike when it's done it. It just sticks...and doesn't go into gear!

That's what he usually does and after a few times he'll get it.

Ha, well trust me he REALLY wants me to ride it, but this thing is way too big for me. I'm going to wait till spring if I get my own but it will be a smaller bike. Chris wants me to buy one RIGHT NOW but he's crazy, I want to take some classes before I even try to ride one on my own!

Congrats on the bike!!!!
Cute kitty pic too!

I would start out by changing the oil. I can tell my oil is getting funky by the way it feels shifting. It may not be oil, but I would change it just to be on the safe side.

The other thing it could be is that the gears just get stuck. Don't panic!
What happens sometimes is that when you stop the gears just 'stick'. All you have to do is roll the bike a little forward or backwards~enough to give the gears room to move`and then try shifting. My R6 does it as well as all of my dirtbikes. Try that and see if it helps. But I notice my bike will do it more when the oil needs to be changed.
Hope that helps!

Congrats on the bike!!! It's a great one. Don't blame you for not really wanting to learn on that one though. It's the same bike my hubby has, I tried learning on it before I took the MSF course... I'm 5'5" and am on my tip toes on both feet. It's a little harder to turn at parking lot speeds than other models, but amazing through corners (since that's what it was built for ) But I personally LOVE my F4i (but due to my hieght needed to lower it 1". ) Still, if I had to do it all over, I would have taken the good advice of others and started on a 250 or 500. Like most I've dropped it a slow speeds while learning, and after all, on any of the models you still need to learn all your basics, and there's no compensation for seat time.

Didn't mean for this to be long winded... HAVE FUN !!!

Oh, and you can also pick up the disk on Ebay that'll brake down any part of the bike, with torque settings and all.

Yeah I've pretty much decided that I want a GS500f...I sat on one at a dealership and if I lower it just a lil bit I should be okay! I'm only 5'3

I will let him know, you would think since he bought it through a dealership that they would have changed the oil though! Oh well..
