I crashed the TTR hard today......Broke my collarbone.
Nasty are collarbone breaks. Just plain icky. I don't like the way they pop and rub together. It hurts and it's gross.
Here's what I know. Sierra and I were on the TTR's. I was chasing her and we were going at it pretty good....she has gotten really good on that TTR-REALLY fast!
Anyway....we got to the top of the hill. She lost her rear and lowsided. Of course I had to look at her rear tire. And grab the front brakes. Next thing I know I am on the ground and hear a "crunch". Fuck...I just broke my collar bone. I finally come to a stop. I got up right away but nearly passed out. I now know I am old. I can not take the pain like I used to. I mean I have never gotten woozy like this before.
My dad took me to the ER...confirmed the break. Mike said that when I hit her (Sierra's) wheel, I basically endoed and flew over the bars. I did two somersaults and finally stopped 10 yards from the point of impact.....yeah, it sux. I managed to pull the brakeline out of the master cylinder too.....But I was having fun. I should be healed in time for ice.
What sucks is that I am out for the final race of the season. The 100 lap endurance race.
Oh well...I was having a blast and that is all that matters. Any other day I'd have gotten right back up and rode some more. It just bothers me how I almost fainted....a few times.
Here's a pic....the bulge is not supposed to be there....
Wow! I'm not really sure what to say other than that I'm sorry and I know exactly how that feels. Be certain, regardless how much you hate it, to keep the harness they gave you at the hospital tight. I didn't and my collarbone healed crooked. I was even silly enough to get right back on the bike a few days later. Ahhhh... Youth! The upside... Well there isn't one. The last orthopedist I saw offered to take a hammer to me if I wanted. LOL Yes please!!! And while you're at it I'd like to be 2" taller too. Would ya break my legs as well?
I have to wonder about Sierra. Did she take it okay or is she hurting too. It might be rough to process that she did nothing wrong.
You start out motorcycling with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
Some people are like slinkies; they're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
DAMn Tammy!!!! I am glad you are okay other than the shoulder. Been in a few of those myself. What are they doing for the break other than putting you in a sling?

Sierra's good. I made sure she knew it was my responsibility to get around her.
She took the bar to the thigh and has a couple of bruises. She was crying when I got up. I asked her where it hurt and quickly assessed it was not that big of a deal. So in my sweet motherly fashion, I said something to the effect of "oh yeah? I broke my collar bone!" That shut her right up...i know...mean mom. But once I knew she was ok, I was just trying to not pass out.
Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Right now I only have a sling on. I need to go to the orthopod tomorrow. There's a chance they might want to wire it since I broke it in half....It;'s a clean break and now I have them overlapping..we'll see after the dr. appt.
oh, this one hand typing blows!!!
Hey Jake! Think I was in over my had on the TTR in my Dad's back yard? I'm waiting for that on TT....talk about egos, eh?

Jeez, Tammy.... that really sucks! I hope you heal up in time for the winter fun. I know how you feel about the pain being worse as you get older. I never had much tolerance for pain, but I still have less and less each year.
