Default Opinions: Cortech Gear

I have an opportunity to get Cortech gear at a really reasonable price. Anyone have anything negative or positive to say about it? The Beemer guys at the shop are all in love with the model that may as well be a winter coat but my tastes run toward the sport style gear. I've seen the winter coat thing and it looks like a nice jacket but it's not me. I need something that will keep me warm and dry when the weather starts to turn. Like now... I've got moderate to hotter than hades covered with my Joe Rocket mesh. As a result I have no use for the standard 20 zip out liners, removable sleeves and all the extra crap they add/ remove.

I'm not a huge fan of Tour Master stuff or I haven't been in the past. The bags I've seen have pretty much been bottom of the puddle, simple crap, that has almost no extra features or real curb appeal. But what can I say... The price is right.

TIA

Never had a Tour Master/Cortech product that I didn't love and use for years.

Thanks guys.

I had a Tourmaster tank bag awhile ago that was just sort of one rectangular open pocket. It was alright but fortune smiled on me and I got a Marsee for my birthday. Now that's a TANKBAG!!! I gave the Tourmaster to a friend and happily moved up and on. The Marsee was 1 of 100 things that went poof when I lived in Dayton. My house was broken into. I hate cities! So I bought myself an Oxford and have been fairly happy with it. I'd rather have the Marsee back. <pout> I may sell the two Oxford pieces I have off this winter and buy a small Marsee. The Oxford hump style pack doesn't fit an FZ6 tank for crap. Fit the FZ1 fine. <shrug>

Back on track now... The long and short is that the old Tourmaster still lives. My friend is still using it. I was not fond of the design but it seems to be of good quality. It's been over 5 years since I handed it off.

I'll try one of their coats next. The price is just too right to pass up.

Ride Well!

Oh my god...

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!

I only have the jacket, the sport style. But that thing rocks. I even wear it in the winter on the ice...in fact there's a pic of me on the ice in my avatar wearing it.

I love that jacket. I bought my for a song as well....I will be willing to pay full price for my next one. Mine hasn't had a break since I bought it two years ago.

OH, and one more thought. This jacket is nice in the summer too. It has the ventilation in all the right places so when you zip out the liner it is very comfortable.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE this jacket?

That's enough for me.

I believe I will go this way: HRX

They have a number of coats that are specifically for women but I've never in my life bought a woman's coat to ride in and I've never had trouble as a result. I'm built a bit like a slightly shapely twig. The pants might be more fun to find a fit but again... <shrug> ...And I will have to wait for them to come. I cannot afford to do both at once and I need a warm coat to take advantage of any fall riding weather. I'm commuting 100 miles of super slab a day to get to work and the bike is frankly, more economical.

Now I just have to decide on silver or black. The bike is silver but I cannot for the life of me seem to keep anything even near white clean for five minutes. I'm a dirt magnet. I feel like that Peanuts character Pigpen. Black then, eh? *snicker*

Ride well!!!

Oh and bmbr... It's been rare in my life that occasionally I bump into someone that makes me feel like I am the sane one. Thank you. It's a bit of a treat.

Stay real hon! You look good on ice.

I bought one of their mesh jackets last year about this time. (End of season sale.) Seems to hold-up well. The only issuse I had was how long it took to get a liner for it. (5 months!) So the only advice I have is get any liner or whatever you need at the time of sale. I actually wear mine with the liner over my aerostitch electric vest, and it is a good set-up down to maybe 45 degrees that way. I would buy more of their stuff. -roadrash1-

Just read the ad again and it looks like the liner is included.

• Includes Cortech´s removable, Two-Stage Aqua-Therm® liner. The first stage is a waterproof and windproof liner and the insulated second stage can be easily added for increased warmth.

Looks like all I will need to be toasty. I doubt I will ever own and heated vest. I tend to dress in layers and get by fine in as cold a weather as I want to ride. I've ridden year round in S. Illinois but I'm older, crankier and I have a cage now.

Thankies much for the advice!

Ride well!

HAHAHA!!! Thanks! Ice is THE best! I'm sane...really I am!

My jacket is a men's XS. Fits really nice, IMO. The only issue I have is that the neck is a little large so it does catch a draft. On the streetbike I will always wear a turtle neck or something under it. Even a scarf wrapped around is enough. But other than that, I love it. I mean it was the best $75 I've spent! I don't think I'll find that deal again.

Well I got the Cortech HRX jacket and I am quite pleased with it. I, however, did not get the gloves that I ordered so I've not been out. I hate backorders. I wore the jacket to the open house at the bike shop where I work today and it is quite comfortable and warm.

Thanks again for the advice.

Glad it worked out. I've only ever heard good things about Cortech & Tour Master. My current tank bag is a Tour Master, and it's holding up well.
