Default Buy her chaps or no?

My GF loves to go on rides with me all the time...ive already gotten her a nice helmet (the sky color) and a decent jacket (in blue)...

Anyways to the point of my post...What do you sport bike riding ladies think of chaps? Newenough has what I think is an awsome deal on some chaps and I was thinking about buying a pair for her as a suprise...I dont really want to ask her if she would like them or not as I want this to be an out of no where gift. The Chaps

I am sure it will be better then her just wearing jeans...but she does still care about matching and looking decent while on the bike.

I wouldn't wear chaps myself. They don't offer any butt protection What if she goes sliding down the road on her butt?

To be perfectly honest though, the chaps don't go so well with the jacket you bought her. The style is completely different. And the jacket is blue with black whereas the chaps are a lighter blue with white. If she cares about matching and looking decent (nothing in the world wrong with that!) then she might not like that combo. Doesn't fieldsheer make matching pants to go with the jacket?

Here's a better idea: The mesh jacket is ok for hot weather, but it can't offer as much protection as leather. Why not find her a nice leather jacket & pant set that were made to go together?

If not, then I'd try to find out if there are pants available that go with the jacket, or look for leather or textile pants (not chaps) that will compliment the jacket.

Very good point about them being very diffrent...I really dont think she would like the chaps and the fact her butt wouldnt be protected.

I am having the HARDEST time finding a nice pair of pants that isnt plain ole black...I dont really like Icon gear much.

Only sites I really shop at are newenough.com and motorcycle-superstore.com

I am thinking of maybe just getting her some of the reinforced jeans to wear?

I do plan on getting her a nicer jacket now that she shows a lot more intrest in riding with me...I will keep my eyes out...I do like the new textile jacket that JR released for 2007...There is one that she would love...the one with the butterflys on it

Get the Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants. I have them, they're all black, and love them. It'll go good with the Fieldsheer Jacket, too.

Plain ol' black isn't such a bad idea either. It really helps out with hiding bug guts and road grime and water retention.

Oooh are you talking about the proverbial wet spot? If you get that 1000, you better make sure you have elastic cuffs in the legs of your pants or no pants will hide the amount of water from the excitement of riding that.

you should check with some of the vendors here they might be able to help you out & even get a good deal on something too

I tried on Icon's reinforced jeans a few months ago and they seem pretty sturdy and didn't look bad. That might be a good alternative until you can find something better.

This weekend I'll see if I can find more options.
