Default Chicks on 1000's???????

How many girls out there ride 1000's and why? Not looking to get one (my 600's pleanty 'nough for me ). Every so often I'll see a chick on a 1000, that's a powerful bike, did they get it so they wouldn't feel they have to "upgrade" later. Or, are they acutally planning on stunting? Just curious and a little confused.

My last bike was a GS1100, but it wasn't a modern sportbike so it doesn't really count. But I had that one b/c I bought it for $100 in a box and rebuilt it.

I've always had the opinion that most (not all, but most) people (both male & female) who ride (or want to ride) liter bikes do so for ego sustenance. This includes me. I still want one, but I know I only want one b/c it's a badass bike. I don't need it. My bike does everything I want it to, and if I had to get something more, a 750 would do just fine.

We are all just attention whores at heart.

Was that for me...The almost part? And as long as 3.5 wouldn't be jealous you are welcome to ride mine if you'd like. Just informed by my tech that race bike(project that is going to set me back alot!) will not be ready by then. The 1000 it must be!

No, that part was actually for Silent_R1. But it can be for you too, if you think you qualify. But it really is mostly about ego. I wanted to get the 750 so bad when I bought this 600, but I had barely ridden in the previous couple of years, and the 750 was going to be more money out of my pocket that was better spent on some accessories I wanted... common sense prevailed, I swallowed my ego and my pride and got the 600. And I've been really happy with it.

It just that there are so many people roaming around who think everyone is riding the fastest most powerful thing they are capable of riding, which is not true for most of us who know what we are doing. Even my middle child (who is 19) said "I thought you would have gotten the 1000".

Just b/c you're not riding a faster bike doesn't mean you're not capable of it, and just b/c someone is doesn't mean they are.

oh, and thanks for the offer. I probably won't take you up on it.. though I would love to. .... well.... we shall see.

Not to hijack the thread, but the reason I prefer liter bikes is simply driveability around town. The big-bore bikes are just that much more comfortable than trying to keep a 600 lit up enough to handle traffic without shifting twice a second. I view it (at my level) as a *handicap* when scratching, but it makes the "real world" aspect much easier to deal with.

That's odd. I hear guys say this every now and then and I have a hard time understanding exactly what they are trying to do, that they would need a 1000 to to have driveability in traffic. Are you trying to launch yourself into the air to fly over a traffic jam or something?

I ride in traffic a lot, I commute to and from work as well a lot of trips to J'ville and different places, and I've never ever had a problem getting by traffic. The power is always there when I need it and I don't have to downshift like a madwoman to do it.

Here we go again! I know CBR chick was wondering why a female would get one so i guess we are hi=jacking her thread. Sorry! Now, I got my 1000 thinking it was the natural progression. I was intimidated by the liter bikes but had owned several 600's,7,9 and said well it was time. When I first got this bike I was a little scared of it. This is because all I heard were the horror stories. Ego did not play a part in it. I wanted to move up for the power, but did not know if I could handle it. So I said WTF? If I don't like it I'll step back down. I was very cautious when I first got it. The more I rode it and the better I got as a rider, the more I could use the power and other things that a 1000 has to offer. Looking back my ZX6R's were as comfortable as my 1000 and were not nearly as difficult to adapt to in the twisties. I have ridden street for almost 18yrs now, and I will be the first to tell you, a liter bike is not easy to deal with in the twisties at high rates of speed. It is a totally different deal when you have that much power and weight to deal with. Now looking back as I stated above, I would probably be just as happy with the GSXR 750. I have grown to love my 1000, but I hate it when my friends on 600 can get me in the curves if they ride on the same level as I do. Oh and I will let you make the determination at the track as to whether or not I qualify. One thing I will not do is toot my own horn, I let my riding speak for itself. CBR chick, this lady seems to know her shit and I would agree with her statement that it is mostly because of ego. That just wasn't the case with me!

Well, her question still has not been answered by a lady who rides a 1000. I just gave my opinion.

I have to ask though, if you get whipped by your friends on 600's why do you keep your 1000? Because it's otherwise fun to ride? I can see that as a good reason. But what was the reason you initially got it, considering you were leery of it's power? Ego maybe?

As far as it being a "powerful bike" (which it is) I don't think guys are more qualified to ride them just because they are guys. Gender has nothing to do with rider skill.

I was being modest by saying that. Not all my friends whoop me. Just the ones who have raced before and yes most of them ride a 600 or 750. They are just more nimble in the curves. I can normally hold my own but a skilled rider can take a 1000 in the twisties. And yes I keep it because it is fun. Original purchase, being totally honest=Peer pressure....Oh your a great rider you need a 1000 all that shit. Keep it because it is fun. Last part, I agree with the gender statement, man I would love to have a woman on a 1000 whoop my ass!!! OFLMAO!
