helmet hair?
Hey ladies, I want to know what y'all do with your hair when you put your helmets on? No matter what I do, the front of my hair gets pushed down so it's against my forehead. I tried pulling it back and it still happens. I also tried a bandana today and the bandana got pulled down as well. I have below-the-shoulder, thick hair, and I'm just looking for suggestions to help me out with this!!!
I know it's kind of a silly question, but now that I'm going to be starting to ride more, I want to be comfortable!

You'll just have to carry some pocket mousse or hairspray! ;)
I always tilt my head backwards and push any stragglers back with my helmet. It usually works for me. From time to time I'll get some whispies that get in the way. But those I usually pluck out if they are too annoying!
she talking about her hair being plastered to her head and really flat looking I think .not hangiong down. I have the same problem but I have fine hair. I just put the top part in a ponytail and redo it when I get where I'm going. otherwise I look goofy lol or just buy a portable curling iron

The helmet pushes the hair down onto my forehead. I don't have bangs, but its just the front gets pushed down. I guess I'm not explaining this very well. I'll have to try putting my helmet on different ways and see if I can figure it out.
Ok, Kevinwilly is right, I'm going to talk about it again.
The balaclava (or similar headgear) will help with that. Once you put it on, push your hair back up inside it, then put your helmet on. It's great for keeping your hair under control. Not to mention, protecting your helmet liner from the oils in your skin & hair. It can be washed so your face is always against clean material.
They come in a few different sizes... one that just covers the top of your head, and those that cover your face for cooler weather. I think they carry them at cycle gear, so you could check there first.
Another thing you can do, if your hair is long enough is to put it in a loose ponytail on the back or top of your head.
I put my hair in a french twist (using a french comb) which holds the front of my hair as well, since it's almost all one length.
I can't just put my helmet on over my hair when it's down. It just doesn't feel right. I feel like Cousin It with my hair barging out of the bottom of my helmet. Even a low ponytail doesn't feel right. I've been wearing it up for too long.
I've also found that the better your hair looks before you put your helmet on, the better it will look when you take it off. Sometimes I don't care what it will look like, like if I'm out for a ride just for the sake of riding. But if I'm going somewhere and know I have to take my helmet off and be seen when I get there, then I do care. So I make sure it looks the best it can, and put it up in such a way that I know it won't get destroyed by the wind or get crushed into a weird pattern.

I'm new to the whole helmet wearing thing, so all of this is helpful. I'll try everything (balaclava, wide headband) and see what works for me. My hair does wild crazy things on its own, outside of a helmet, so anything I can do to minimize extra-craziness is good
I put my hair in pigtails. My trademark hair. It beats fighting the knots after a ride, I don't get split ends, and I don't get the itchy neck like when you stuff your hair down the back. My liner is washable, so I can pull it out and wash it. Mind you once the weather gets a bit colder (and it's getting there fast) I'll use my custom balaclava. It has holes on either side of the head for my pigtails to come out, and still keeps everything warm.
