Default Daughters First Bike??

Well, I had another talk with Maranda (youngest lil daredevil) she is still very interested in riding. I want to surprise her in the next couple of months with her a dirt bike. Since she is darn inquisitive, if I took her to the bike shop and had her sit on a few she would get the idea something was up. Is there a way I can get her measurments and find what seat height would work for her? Or would the best bet would be to take her to the shop and let her sit on a few? She might get the idea but sure would be worth the chance I would take.

Thanks again!!

chris

She's 12 right? How tall are you? Look at that picture of her standing next to you and figure it from there.
I am willing to bet that any of the 100-125cc trail bikes will fit her well. If she is on the shorter side of her age group, you can get the small wheel version. The TTR has a small wheel (17 front 14 rear) model as well as a big wheel model (19 Front 16 rear). The average 12 year olds we have around have no issues with the big wheel model. But if you are worried about height I am positive the small wheel will be fine. My 9 year old is 4'10" (tall for her age) and she fits her small wheel just fine. She's a bit short to kick it over so we have her set up with electric start.
By viewing her picture, I am certain she will be just fine on any of these bikes.
What brand where you looking at? Do you have a preference?

Yamaha of course! I checked the web site yesterday. I think the TTR just maybe what I am looking for. When I get her one I just might have to get back into dirt bikes again.

Thanks again!!!

Not a problem!!!
FYI~ the TTR 230 has the exact same power delivery, suspension....as the 125. I was really impressed with it. A little bigger than the 125 but no problems switching up. They were "identical" rides.

The YZ250F is a totally different animal....now the WR is the YZ with a different tranny. I haven't ridden a WR yet, but I hear great things about them! (WR is the trail model)

PLEASE keep us updated and show pics when the time comes. Dirtbiking is so cool...I keep saying it and I'll say it again. It's an AWESOME FAMILY sport. It can take you anywhere and nowhere all at the same time! Oh, and don't hesitate to ask questions....AND if you are considering a return to the dirtbike world, be sure to check out thumper talk. That's awsome! I remember when I got my 125 for Christmas (a while ago), it was sitting in the basement with a big red ribbon on it.

Who knows...maybe she will get into racing. A lot more girls doing it now than ever! Are you ready for that?? Ha!

Hubz did that with my quad, but he couldn't get it out of the truck. He asked me to go get the eggnog out of the cab, so when I went to get it there was this shiny red wolverine in the back of the truck. I'd definitely go the sneaky route...she'll blow a gasket when she gets it.

BB the WR is one kick-ass bike. It rides like a YZ, but the shifting is spread further apart so you don't have as much of a chance blowing a shift. It's got an awesome power spectrum, and can throw a good rooster. Nice and light to do table-tops and such.

I keep hearing that. My hubby would give....a lot....to have a WR. Right now he has a hard on for Honda's new 150R....liquid cooled 150 four stroke....with the race suspension on it. Thank goodness it's a Honda. If it were a Yamaha I think we'd be talking splitz-ville on it. Momma's gotta draw the line somewhere!
