This weekends disappointment..

Well hello Ladies! This is my first thread in this forum, and definately won't be my last!

Well this weekend I came across something very upsetting. While out riding with my boy we stopped for a few to take a breather when a couple of girls on new bikes show up. I was so happy to see other girls riding so immediately go up to talk and meet them. I wasn't greated with smiles, instead it was a look me up and down "Hi". After talking to them about what I ride and the Circuit I race I say Bye and walk away, but turn around in time to see them mocking me!! After grabbing a drink I heard one ask how to fill up her tank after begging someone to go do it for her! ... I have been riding for about 6-7 months and have learned as much as I possibly can about my bikes and other bikes as well. I am very confident in doing everything myself from fixing it to putting it on a trailor! It just seems like they were riding because it was the "cool" thing to do, not just for the love of riding. Does anyone feel as though I do? Because honestly, it hurt my feelings for me to walk over there, introduce myself, and get S&*t on for it. Any comments on this episode?

Hopefully this post is the end of you feeling bad about this. Anyone who would mock you, especially after you went out of your way to be friendly, is not worth the time of day. And if they needed help putting gas in the tank, well, I think that says just a little bit about them...

First of all welcome to SBN!!!!

I haven't run into that particular issue. But it goes to show that the typical female is alive and well, even on motorcycles. They probably didn't know what an Aprillia is. Eventually you will run into some good girls. They are out there, just gotta find them.

So far the only time I've ever met with women + bikes = bad attitude has been the pillon HD riders, which I would have to attribute, I guess, to envy of some type since they weren't riders themselves rather than passengers.

In your case I think you intimidated them, they sound like empty-headed fools, and you probably nailed it regarding the reason they ride. Not to mention you have a pretty intimidating bike...PLEASE tell me that wasn't your first bike. However if it is, perhaps you're one of the very few exceptions to the rule about young, new riders & extremely potent bikes not being a good match.
Anyway, welcome to the site and don't mind those idiots you ran into. There's plenty of great women who will welcome you properly into the fold!

My experience is that girls who act this way aren't very happy with their own lives for one reason or another to begin with. So, in effect, Karma has already got them.



I run into this kind of attitude more often than I'd like to around here.

The majority of women/girls on bikes I see are squids, first of all. I see the most women on bikes at the various bike nights, and they show up wearing tube tops and capris, sometimes a helmet (Icon) fingerless gloves, and if they are wearing a jacket it's some girly, fringe laden, pastel colored thing. And many times they are riding a stretched, chromed out gsxr1000 (or similar bike).

So, I'm bitching about appearances here.. but really.

Back to the attitude, usually the response I get from these women is the 'holier than thou', 'how dare you come into my presence' BS. So I have pretty much stopped trying to talk to them unless I get a little encouragement from them first.

That said, I have met some cool chicks - one I met in traffic. She was on a 03 gsxr600, and obviously knew how to ride. I got her number at a stop light & met her at hooters a few times. Very friendly, no pretenses.

So, just like anything else, you have to weed out the good from the bad and just wake up grateful that you aren't as unhappy as the bad ones must be to act that way.

I have to say though, I have met plenty of guys that are just plain dicks too...all male ego and shit....afraid to have a girl out ride them. So just be aware that it is not just the women, it's the men too. And when comes to competeing, the men love to help you out...until they realize you can ride. Then you'll see a bunch of true colors fly...
Enjoy your ride. Dig the cool people and ignore the morons. That's all you can do!
