Default Wife Three, Honda CT70 Zero

Well, on Saturday, I made good on my promise ( threat ?? ) to get Miss Alicia out on the Mini Trail and let her ride in the open lot behind our house. She didn't do too badly considering that she hadn't ridden a bike in about 20 years. She only laid it down 3 times. She didn't scuff it up or do any damage untill the chain broke during the last crash. Where is this legendary Honda reliability ??? If a chain can't take 35 years of abuse and neglect, then what good is it ??? <sarchasm off>

She has a problem with target fixation and not keeping her eyes up & looking where she wants to go. In addition, the whole "Brake & Throttle" concept wasn't something she came to grips with during this riding session.

It was after the last crash that I found out she'd gotten into the "Dutch Courage" AKA Kettle One with Orange Juice for color. I explained to her about drinking and riding, and how I wouldn't be drinking if there was any riding to be done.

I'l check on a new chain tomorrow and get things ready for her next riding session. I'll try to get video as well. Bob Saget could make me rich !!

So, you are saying you took your wife on a training mission while she was drunk?? Shame on you!!

I mean, congrats for finally making good on your promise, but next time maybe you should hide the booze the night before.

No, not drunk. There was most of the drink left when I saw it. I mean she wasn't inebriated or impaired. She had gotten home from workand was out watering the lawn & plants. I was working on the Zed when I took a break and got the CT70 out. She had consumed less than what would be the equivalent of one beer, and she's 5'8" and won't share her weight ( I'm certainly not going to venture a guess ). I'm sure she won't be consuming ANYTHING before the next training session.
I was very patient and calm with her during the whole riding session, I have taught this woman how to shoot firearms, I even taught her mother how to shoot pistols and revolvers ( Yes, I thought about the repercussions and the many permutations of that ).

If you haven't ridden a Mini Trail, they steer like a radio flyer wagon, and she was at low speed the whole time so there wasn't any gyroscopic stability in those little wheelbarrow wheels.

Hopefully this week will go smoothly and she gets a feel for riding again.

I think you should start her off ridewalking the bike while feathering the clutch and throttle inputs for at least half a day.

This bike has an autoclutch. I'll be taking a different approach with her and start her from scratch this week. For training purposes, I'll treat this as her first time on a bike.

I was really just teasing you about her being drunk. I'm sure if she were impaired you would have realized it.

I actually had a CT70 as a kid, or my grandparents did, which amounts to the same thing. I rode it everywhere. It was a lot of fun. Should be a good thing for her to learn the basics on. Except the clutch part. When I finally learned to ride a street bike, the clutch was the only thing I really didn't already understand & needed to learn (as far as the operation of the bike).
