Nesba Adds Brainerd's New 2.5 Road Course To Schedule!!
It may not be close...but it sure is CHEAP!!!
August 20 Brainerd Brainerd, MN $65
August 21 Brainerd Brainerd, MN $65
September 2 Brainerd Brainerd, MN $65
September 3 Brainerd Brainerd, MN $65
2 more spots in the trailer...who's in?
New 2.5 Mile track
turn by turn description
For consistency we kept old turn 1 new turn 1 so we know which corner we are talking about. Pit out merges on to the track just after the 90 right (turn 12) to allow merging traffic to somewhat match the speed of cars on track.
A short 700 foot straight leads under the new bridge to a decreasing radius turn 13. Its about 1400 foot to turn 1 where cars should still maintain a high rate of speed as they hit the banked corner.
Turn 2 gets a new “Alpha” which puts esses in the mix to make it a real race to turn 3.
Turn 3 is a 130-degree right-hand turn with a curb at the exit, with a following short straight leading into the left-hand Turn 4.
Turns 4, 5, and 6 are a set of esses with progressively longer straight stretches following them, and curbs at the exits of all three. Turn 4 is about a 100-degree left-hand turn, slightly faster then Turn 3; Turns 5 and 6 are 90-degree right and left turns, respectively, both a little slower than Turn 4. The turns in the esses are far enough apart that you can easily get back across the track each time, and you may even recover enough speed that you need to change gears up and down between them (this more likely coming out of 5 and 6, if you change up and back down between 4 and 5 you may be geared wrong). Look for slightly widened track surfaces at the entrance to all these turns, these may help you -- but watch out for Turn 6, where using the widened entry will likely cause you to apex too early.
Turn 7 is a higher-speed left-hand 45-degree turn that is followed very closely by Turn 8, which we have named the clover leaf.
Turn 8 is a corner that keeps turning to allow you to hang on your cars threshold for almost 300 degrees.
Turn 9 is a gradual left leading to turn 10. Pit in is “off line” between turn 10 and 11 to the left.
Turn 11 is an increasing radius corner. A 1000 foot straight takes you back to the 90 left turn 12 and under the new bridge to lucky turn 13.

Yep - I'm still here (a call from a 200+ pound little birdy helps too).
What can I say about Brained Internal Raceway??? hmmm??? TURN 1!!!! BIR is a great track and it looks as though they have dates scheduled before the track change will be made. (I believe September was going to be the first time with the new configuration, but I could be wrong) People will most likely want to debate the following... however, I will claim that Turn 1 is the fastest turn in America (in it's current configuration). Show me another track with a 4700 foot straight away which leads to a 60 degree right turn which is banked. If you are looking for the test of courage, try coming off the track saying "Ya, I can keep it pinned through turn 1". For those of you who haven't ventured outside of the midwest tracks I have ridden (BHF, Autobahn, RA, Heartland Park) I would almost say it's worth it just to see that turn, and when you see it - realize that people have made it all the way to the fence (Dan, don't fixate on that fence though when you're riding through, buddy! :-) .
Anyhow - BIR has very little elevation change, but still has a ton of character. I hear it's even rather scenic for some of the folks that have ran off in different areas. :-) Turn 4 can get a lot of people, since riders are on the right side of their tire for 6 turns (8-10,1-3) and the left side might not be quite ready.
There is a "normal-priced" gas station located just outside the front gate (they gave us a free bag of ice when we bought fuel when I raced up there). Decent hotels very close also.

Ive heard Daytona is one hell of a rush going up and around the banking at full bore, but only a select few get to race at Daytona. So I'm certainly not qualified to debate this topic.
