11-year-old boy hit, killed by motorcycle
An 11-year-old boy was killed when he was struck by a motorcycle while trying to cross the street on his bicycle Wednesday evening, Milwaukee Police said today. The boy has not been identified pending notification of relatives.
According to police, the boy was struck in the 5200 block of Green Bay Road around 6:25 p.m. The force of the crash split the bicycle in two. The 26-year-old motorcyclist is in police custody at a local hospital.
The motorcyclist will be referred to prosecutors for recommended charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, said police department spokesperson Anne E. Schwartz.
Police said the boy had been playing basketball at Lincoln Park just north of Villard Ave. before the accident.
Investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology tests of the driver to determine if alcohol was involved.

Vigil tonight for boy killed on bike
A vigil has been scheduled for 7 tonight in remembrance of 11-year-old Dominique Gill, who was hit and killed by a motorcyclist Wednesday night outside Lincoln Park.
The head of the youth basketball league where Dominique had just finished playing a game before he was struck said grief counselors were on hand at the basketball courts today talking to the boy's coaches and teammates.
Dominique was trying to cross the street on his bicycle Wednesday evening when the motorcycle struck him, Milwaukee police said today.
According to police, the boy was hit near Villard Ave. and Green Bay Road about 6:25 p.m. The force of the crash split the bicycle in two.
The 26-year-old motorcyclist is in police custody at a local hospital and will be referred to prosecutors for a recommended charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, said police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz.
You start out motorcycling with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
Some people are like slinkies; they're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
haha this is awesome... probably the only addiction support group i have seen that supports the addiction...lmao...

i just Googled "intoxicated use of a motor vehicle" and could not find a reference. Any LEO's have an opinion on this term?
EDIT--I did find various' references, but they were split between pedestrian and vehicle. Is the article referring to the opinion that the motorcyclists was DUI?

Yes - it is implied that the worthless piece of shit riding the motorcycle was indeed drunk (correction: intoxicated). Which, the word "drunk/intoxicated" is somewhat subjective also. It's a damn shame for the family of that 11 year-old. I really have little-to-no tolerance for people that can drink and somehow concieve they can handle a 400 pound machine with over 100 hp. R.I.P. to the 11-year-old

dude. I feel terribly saddened that an innocent person was taken away, regardless of who was at fault. A 100 hp motorcycle was never mentioned, but regardless, if the fucker was drinking, I have no sympathy what-so-ever for people like that. I was a LEO at one time, and have been affected by the actions of people who drink/drive and caused the death of people I have been close too.
RIP to the kid.

wow, that really sucks for his family and him. R.I.P
i'm surprised this doesn't happen more often with poker runs and such. Being here out to the "west" really makes me think about all the guys on bikes that go to biker bars. Back in Milwaukee i've never seen such disreguard for life as I have here. You'd think others would learn from this story but obviously not.
Found this article this morning. Apparently, the guy was going 80-90 MPH...on Green Bay and Silver Spring!!! My goodness...have a little self control! There's a time and place for speed...they're called back roads and track days.
RIP Dominique and hopefully this serves as a wake-up call.
anyone know who hit the boy yet? Have they released that name?
Also am I the only one that read the report and was mildly insulted that the prosecutor was pushing for homicide by use of a motorcycle while intoxicated when there was NO toxicology completed yet.

Dunno, which is worse - to be thought an idiot without the aid of a chemical, or with?
Just another A-hole giving us (motorcyclists) a bad name. It is horrible that a child's life ended because of it. The news has really run with this story for the last couple of nights...
