I've got an appointment for a road test lined up, so I thought I'd ask and see what people have to say about it. anything to look out for? things to practice before hand?
I've been riding the last 6 months and feel comfortable with everyday riding. But with that comes bad habits, like casual speeding (5-10 over), resting the left hand on the leg, etc. I'm just worried they'll be looking for stuff I'm not thinking about.

Just be over cautious.. You may wanna practice fast stops as they test you on one of those. Also be watchful for uncontrolled intersections.Make sure you are watching your mirrors constantly and always use your signals.

I'm off to a parking lot to practice some basics!
Thanks for any suggestions
Practice3 your tight radius low-speed turns, weaving, and 2 lane wide (diameter of u-turn) u-turn. When driving down a road wider than 1 lane, signal to change into the "other" lane (even if it's unmarked). Of course, don't signal to change lanes close to an intersection or someone might think you're turning when you aren't.
Umm cancel your appointment and let me take it?? LOL JK
LOL, well it might come to that actually. I still have to check with work tommorow to see if I can leave early, or not come in, or something.
There's a handful open at a different DMV on Oct 5th, but my temps expires b4 that... actually the only reason why I thought about taking it was so I didn't have to renew my temps before the ride this weekend!
My advice is to exadurate every head movement. When in doubt - look around. Make sure you check your blind spot often - ESPECIALLY before you do your U-Turn (I failed once for that).
Also, keep your back tire on the ground when they have you come "stop as fast as you can in a controlled manner"
Don't put your feet down unless you are stopped. I put dragged my foot during the U-turn and I lost 1 point, but that was the only point I lost. Its not really hard so don't be skurred.
dude just pretend your out on a regular ride just without the speeding & i know that hard to do.. when i took mine, she was following me & was kinda hard cuz she said if she honks once turn left & twice turn right.. but damn there was a lot of traffic & her horn needed to be fixed or something but i got it . good luck

Slow down and triple check at railroad tracks. I lost a point for not slowing down. Also, in Wisconsin, they have you wear a headset inside your helmet and give you instructions through that.

How about gear, all you NEED is a helmet for the test correct? I don't want to show up and have them say "Where are your riding boots?" I would be upset...
