Bikes damaged at MU
I was awakened by my cell phone at 5:15 am this morning, and it was one of the schools public safety officers. He is a fellow rider and lurks on here, but I don't remember his screen name, anyways, he said he noticed AccuracyRR's 600RR next to Tommy623's and my R6's in the bike area, and later in his shift went to check on / admire the bikes. When he looked the area over he noticed the Honda was gone, so he exited his squad and found AccuracyRR's Honda on its left (kickstand) side on the ground against Tommy623's rear tire. He called and woke me up, and then I gave them the number to Mike's parents, since he had his wisdom teeth out and wasn't on campus at the number they had.
The bike's whole left side is damaged pretty good, and most of the front fairing. Windshield in 2, signals, broken rearsets, bars, clutch lever, etc... One of his mirrors was next to Tommy623's rear tire, and the other was behind and to the left of my rear tire. The bikes were lined up (from a behind view) mine, Tommy623's and then AccuracyRR's. It is a good 10 feet from his bike to the far mirror behind my bike.
The officer thinks someone climbed on Mike's bike, noticed the steering was locked, and then shoved it down, or pulled it down getting off of it. The bike damage looks as if the bike was put down with force, not just tipped, and it wouldn't tip towards the kickstand anyways. There is a small scratch on Tommy623's rim from where AccuracyRR's front fairing/windshield hit.
The area is under camera surveilance, and the tapes are being reviewed as I type this. 2 guys were caught prowling in the garage earlier in the night, but they were seen/caught on the 6th floor while the bikes are on the second floor. I'm just too angry/hyper to go back to bed. This sort of thing just pisses me off.
MU is going down the shitter in my eyes fast. Last night I observed 3 outdoor bar/street brawls, a drunken hit and run/try to park and hide (which I called in and the kid was caught), idiots everywhere, and a white car driving all crazy and fast down the one way streets the wrong way. I heard via a police officer later that the kid in the white car was pulled from the car and beaten unconscious by a angry mob of about 10-20 after he hit or clipped a kid coming out from a party at 14th and State. Another person who I was discussing this with witnessed the beating, and said an iron kettle was involved as well as fists.
People are stupid, and alcohol doesn't help. I can't wait to leave this school and neighborhood. There was a stabbing 5 blocks from my house as well 2 weeks ago.
Damn that's really messed up. I hope they can get some info from the tapes. I don't think I would have a bike if I couldnt keep it N my garage. These things are so easy to get messsed up.
<------ Going outside to check on bike...hopefully no bad juju came to it!
Damn, that sucks! That's 2 600RRs in the last three days that have either been messed up or totaled. And I even talked to Mike late last night while I was helping Brian (REDVFR) move.
Tom, I even thought that m/c parking area was pretty nice when I was down at MU with you and Tom the other week.

I just got back to my apartment. Everything seems to have happened just as Tom explained. I took some pictures which I will upload really soon. I have had the worst weekend in quite a while. The tranny went on my 2002 TL Type S Thursday so I had to take that in Friday to have them get started on (thank God it's under warranty), my wisdom teeth were taken out yesterday which has just made this fantastic having to deal with being stressed and having my mouth be sore. Now this shit with my bike. I am so disappointed with this school that I can't even express it. I will not only be filing reports with public safety and Milwaukee PD, but I am also filing a complaint against public safety. They are telling me that they have NO COVERAGE whatsoever of anyone doing the damage to my bike, which is unbelievable, because now I have to deal with this as opposed to if someone were to have been caught on camera... I swear, when Tom called me this morning I got up and started trying to figure out where the closest crowbar I owned was......
Screw Marquette and it's rich-ass, mom pays for everything, unrespectful, "I'm gonna be like everyone else in this world and do anything I can do be accepted," dumb shit students.
Yea I do, full coverage, but we haven't spoken with them yet, and regardless, my premium will go up because of some moron. Just irritates me that he can't meet my crowbar....

This is bullshit. I park my bike in the structure because I thought it was a secure place to leave a vehicle. How can they not have caught the person on tape if they have the area on video surveilance? I thought people had more respect than to fuck over someones bike like that. But lately, like Tom pointed out, there has been a lot of shit going on around Marquette and the students, probably mostly the new ones, are complete fucking morons. I'm heading over to check out this scratch on my wheel. I keep a cover on my bike, so hopegully nothing else is wrong underneath. My sympathy goes out to you Mike, and I hope someone gets caught for this.
Tom
P.S. I dont think the pics worked, I dont see them.

Wow, I am so sorry, this is one of the reasons that I'm glad I still live with my parents and just do the commuting thing. A whole lot less shit like that going on. If you have insurance it'll prolly cover the damages?? Most likely at least. Considering that yours was the only bike damaged I almost wonder if it was a direct hit against you. It sucks that shit like this happens everywhere on a regular basis.
Anyways, pics didn't work.

Mike just called me, the tapes from the cameras show nothing. According to the officer I know, Tom, Mike and I just happen to park in the corner of the bike area that has the best view from the cameras too.
I do not think it was a direct hit against Mike. Most of his friends here at school do not know he rides, and those that do think he keeps the bike at his dad's house. In all actuallity, he really only keeps his bike down here a few days a week, just when he is riding. If anyone of the 3 of us (Mike, Tom, & I) would have a "bike hit" against us it would be me.
Capital, if I could find a subletter i'd be out of here in a flash. I was actually supposed to move right near the Downer Theater, but my subletter didn't come through. My lease is up May 25, 2005. Plus the rent over there was literally half of what i am paying now for the same size place.
Tom, I figured I should not call you at 5:15am about a scratch, I was going to call you this afternoon, but I see you already saw this thread.
Tom.
P.S. Mike not to nag, but I can't see the pics either, but I don't really need to, as I saw it firsthand.
Are the cameras not on all the time? I still dont understand how nothing was seen if we are in direct view of the camera. Oh well...
Thanks for not calling me at 5:15 Tom, I would have been very grumpy at that time. I was lucky to only have a scratch, If we were all parked closer, it could have been much worse. I dont think I'll be keeping my bike there much longer.
Ok guys, here's a link to the picture page since it wouldn't load the pics individually. The damage pics start at the bottom of this link and continue onto the next page:
Saw the pix thru the link, all I can say is DAMN. I'd be homicidal. Hope someone can give you some pointers as to who might be involved, it would be great if you could get some 'restitution'.
