Rob's Performance Annual Open House/Memorial Day Ride - 10/2/04
Rob's Performance Motorsports
Annual Open House
Saturday
October 2, 2004
9am - 6pm
Cookout - Fund Raiser for J.C. E.M.S.
Fun, Door Prices, and much more!!!
Honda and Bombardier ATV test Rides
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Greg, Tony, Ben, Tanya, and I (sorry if I forgot anyone) were at the open house last year and it was a good time: food, friends, stunt show (forget which group), watching the ATV racing out back on their dirt track, ATV test rides, and that was the day Tanya's bike came back to life and my totaled F4i was sold
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The few of us that were at Rob's for the (rained out) Memorial Day Ride this past 5/29/04 might remember that we said we were going to do the ride the day of Rob's open house in October.
Well, that day is upon us and I'm wondering who's up for the ride on the 2nd(weather permitting of course)?
I've got the route that we were going to do back in May and am planning on doing a test run of it this weekend (to familiarize myself with the route since two of the three route creators unfortunately can't make it...work sucks!). It's approx. 100 miles...start and finish at Rob's.
So, I'm wondering who's up for this on the 2nd and if anyone would like to join me in the test run either this next Saturday or Sunday (so far this weekend looks like great weather).

Sounds cool. I missed the memorial day ride b/c of work. New job, no weekends, I love it.
I'm up for the "test" ride, if you go on saturday. I'll be drunk at the brewer game on sunday.

I'm going to through in my usual maybe. It's hard for me to say until the a couple of days before because of work. If I'm not working I don't see why I wouldn't be able to make it.

You start out motorcycling with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

Kevin (funkyninja) and I did the route today. After a few tweaks to the directions...it was a huge success.
When we came to the last leg of the route where it called for us to turn right onto US-18 from US-83, we stopped at the Pick N Save for a couple of minutes. Since we were close to Waukesha at that point and the sun was slowly setting, we decided to go our own ways. I went on to finish the loop and went thru the first part of the route again to take note of the small changes to the directions. All in all, I did approx. 220 miles today.
Eventhought it was a bit of a detour, we took Hogsback Rd. over the "hill". Little did I know that was Kevin's first time in that area. He said something to the tune of, when we stopped to turn around, he heard me accelerate going up the "hill". Little did he know what he was about to experience.
Hopefully next Saturday will be as big a success as today...in terms of both the weather and the ride.

I know that area, just never been down St. Augustine or Hogsback Sweet roads. Overall the route is awesome, I hadn't ridden any of the roads that were south of 94, and the ones north of 94 are awesome everytime.
Don't forget about getting stuck behind 20 Harley guys that were braking thru the turn, almost causing you to hit that Explorer! Oh yea, and watch out for trucks crossing the double yellow to pass!
It just sucks that my temps expires on wednesday

I wasn't implying you didn't know the area, just the hill on Hogsback.

I was waving at almost every bike/Harley that was going the oposite way the entire day. But this was just rediculous. This is one of the reasons why I usually can't stand Harley owners. Sometimes they forget how to ride while forgetting that others are around them and are affected by their riding style. I did run into one exception on 67 on my second lap though. A guy on a Sportster and I were flying around the turns and, at least on one occassion, hit 100+ on one of the straightaways. On a couple of occassions he pulled over to the far right of the lane, I'm assuming, allowing me to pass. However, I didn't care to...I was having an awesome time riding with him.
