Angry Ridegear WARNING / Complaint

I usually would not complain about “slow” service but “NO service”?

After placing an order with this company more than 3 months ago for an item listed as a “Featured Closeout” (and after confirming by phone with this company that they actually had the correct size and color in stock), the bad news started.

The company had no problem charging me for the item and about 5 days later sent a confirmation email that the order was no longer available but I could have an additional 25% credit toward another item. (Warning #1)

I responded via email to simply cancel the order and not charge me.

Found out they charged my account anyway.

I made numerous phone calls (lost count how many) to customer service and sent 8-9 emails. No returned calls and only an automated email response (Warning #2)

Phone messages and emails were continuously pursued as I simply was trying to find an amicable solution to the return of my funds. Two (2) months have passed by now. (“Warning Will Robertson danger, danger!”)

Finally I got someone there to answer a phone via an order line and got transferred around. The person stated that they were so sorry and that they had “changed credit card handling companies”??? but they would send me by priority mail a check in the full amount of my order within a week.

A week or so later a check arrives, I deposit it, Finally a resolution, or so I thought!

The COMPANY CHECK BOUNCED!

My advise is deal with your local motorcycle shop 1st, If you can’t work out a satisfactory “deal” shop only with other legitimate mail order dealers that have excellent ratings for service.

I have found that this company has a lot of complaints filed with agencies such as the BBB. Now they will have others filed with the California consumer protection office, Atty Gen, Postal Inspector and BBB

He is referring to Motorcycle Helmets, Motorcycle Accessories from RideGear.com

Wow, that is crazy. I have ordered from them before and did not have issues. I guess I was one of the lucky ones.

I'd contact them and demand they pay you next time by certified funds, so there is no chance the check can bounce. I'd also hit them up for any bank fees you may have been charged for the bounced check.

Time to dispute the charge with your credit card company.

Yea, I wouldnt have even gone through the hassle of dealing with them. Would have done a credit card dispute instantly. Thats what its there for, when you pay for something but dont receive the goods.

I have heard nothing but bad stuff about ridegear.com. And based on what I've heard, if the owner of ridegear.com is reading this, I'd like to personally tell you that you're a piece of shit.

People get screwed on ebay & paypal all the time...no he did the right thing and used a credit card. Like another poster said I too would not of gone through the hassle of calling them numerous times. One company that tried stuff with me and did not pick up I just called my CC and they gave me a refund. Then what do you know a few weeks later after 30 days had gone by (reason why I did the dispute, I don't wait 2 months) I got the clear turn lenses in the mail expect only two instead of the 4 I needed and ordered. I called the CC company back and told them and they just flat out asked me if I still wanted theml (I said no not now) and they said then wait a week and then sell them on ebay or throw them out (which I did end up installing them). Nothing like freebies from companies that try to screw people over and never email or answer their phone (I places the order online, even the order phone was never picked up).

I've had luck with NewEnough.com, Kneedraggers.com, and Motorcycle-Superstore.com. Those are the only three vendors I do business with frequently. I've also used RonAyers.com for a tire purchase.

RideGear.com's products aren't usually priced competitively, so seldom do I visit the site.

+1 on contacting the credit card folks. They've helped me out before for an unauthorized purchase and it was remedied the same day.

Newenough.com FTW
One time I thrashed a pair of gloves, and needed that and some saddlebags for an upcoming ride a few days away. Both they said were in stock when i ordered. Ok,cool beans. A couple of days later when the stuff is suppose to arrive I only get the saddle bags. I call newenough up all pissed, and they tell me calm down, we accidentaly told u the gloves were in stock when they weren't, so we over nighted em from their supplier who used a diffrent shipper. Sure enough I got my gloves a couple of hours later. Those guys actaully sucked it up and paid the extra for over night shipping without waiting for an angry phone call or threat to do so. They really are top notch people, great customer service,99% of the time the lowest prices. They are my one and only gear supplier.
