Triumph Speed Triple 2000 955i engine needed

I need to source a new engine to fit in a 2000 Triumph Speed Triple 955i, UK-spec.

Reason for this (I'm posting an behalf of my brother) is that we've been advised by a trusted friend that it's cheaper to source and fit a 'new' engine than it is to replace/repair the crankshaft and other 'faults' the engine has (over 25k miles).

Does anyone have some trusted sources for this kind of task?

I know I could ask my local Triumph dealer but as no one locally trusts them, neither will I.

Thanks, will give both a go.

A quote to replace the crankshaft came in at over £1500 inc. labour, yet a complete engine woudl be just under £1000, go figure!!
