Default Triumph’s naked 675 confirmed

After 18 months of denying its existence, MCN can exclusively reveal that the naked version of the Daytona 675 is finally finished. Dealers are now taking orders on the bike – and we’ve got an MCN reader’s receipt to prove it.

At a recent top-secret Triumph dealer conference, the bike was unveiled to dealers in its final form. The styling and mechanical specification are all complete – all that remains is for Triumph to decide the final colour options and a name. ‘Street Triple’ is being mooted as a favourite – dealers are referring to the bike by this name.

The final spec is close to the Daytona – but with styling closely modelled on the Speed Triple 1050.

A price between £5500 and £6000 is likely. This places the Street Triple in its natural territory – much less than the Daytona 675, and slightly more than the all-new but lower spec Hornet 600 (which costs £5495 with ABS). The mystery prototype spotted my MCN in January has been confirmed by an anonymous dealer as the Street Triple, but final pictures have not been taken as yet. See the full story in this week’s MCN, out Wednesday March 7.

Very cool. I had often wondered why they didn't do that when the 675 was released. I do have to say that if this is something that was so secret and has taken this long to be released I would have expected a little more. It looks to me like they just took a 675 without the front and side fairings and mounted the Speed Triple hardware to it. Well, that isn't so difficult that it takes a couple years to get accomplished. I wouldn't be surprised if there is somebody out there with a 675 in this configuration that was garage moded.

Anyway, I'm off my soap box. I like the bike.

can't argue with you.
I think they took so long to do it because they were in a backorder situation with the Daytona 675. So, they only had so many frames, motors, etc.

I too think they could have gone just a bit further. The tank looks odd so far back from the triple clamp (in this configuration).
