I have owned a number of Triumphs, and currently own a couple of Daytonas....trust me..if **I** can't break one, noone can. I know one guy who broke a rod, and another who plugged up an oil pump (hence..blown motor)..but those were RARE cases. I've personally ridden with, around, or on 8 955 motors (or equivalent) and I've never heard of ANY type of serious problems with ones built after 1998. They had some electrical problems with the first of the series (97/98) but by 99 the bikes were pretty sorted out, and the new ones seem better. I've had a set of stock clutches make it 28k miles of wheelies and burnouts, no problems with the basket, 9k mile oil changes on my bike dont worry me at all, I've never had a cush-drive fail, bolts dont fall out, brakes dont last that long for me...but neither do tires...(if you're not getting the picture, I ride like an idiot 90% of the time). All of my motors have made valve noise after the first 2k miles with me on it..but I've NEVER had one smoke, drip, or not get me home. My current bike has given me the only problems I've ever had on one, and that was after riding it for over two hours through a monsoon (see: 3" of standing water on the road, so soaked my HELMET was holding water in the TOP of the liner) I had a fuse blow that took out one headlight. I doubt anyone else would be stupid enough to ride through that, and I've never heard of the single-headlight-blow problem on t595.net before...so it was probly just a "me" thing.
Anyways...they are BEAUTIFULLY designed, unique motorcycles..you wont pull into a group and have to check license plates before you get on one to see which one is yours. They sound AWESOME. They have character, which is to say each one of them has little things about it that make it 'yours'...not bad things, you'll just have to own one to find out.
Good luck!
Phil
